Job Description

The Avery Dennison Identification Solutions Group North America is looking for a Training Manager who will lead plant training efforts, the plant training team, and document control efforts. In this role, they will be responsible for developing and managing the training process to onboard new and transferred employees within Operations as well as ongoing training efforts. 

This role is located in Miamisburg, OH reporting to the site Plant Manager. Solid understanding of plant processes and an ability to teach and train are key to success within this role.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Plant Operations and other functional groups to coordinate and conduct New-Hire training efforts for onboarding
  • Design and develop the Training team and it’s members to suit the needs of the facility
  • Maintain and handle plant documentation efforts to ensure compliance standards
  • Coordinate and work with Department Managers to identify and deliver training based on needs of the individual or department
  • Ability to track, record, and link improvement in training to improvement in department metrics
  • Develop or update or lead the creation of training material to support training requirements such as one point lessons, video training, presentations, procedure documentation, training documentation/ checklists, and Training plans
  • Develop, maintain and improve competence assurance program for training including identification of skills needed for demonstration (including guidelines for success) and written/oral examinations to verify competence prior to being fully qualified
  • Ensure consistent application of policies and procedures throughout training
  • Coordinate schedules and assignments of employees in training with Team Managers to ensure employees are able to learn and demonstrate all skills necessary to be successfully trained
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business management, or related field
  • 3+ years experience in training in a manufacturing environment.
  • Compliance knowledge or other quality standards is a plus
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; strong presentation skills
  • Able to effectively work with various functions and levels within the organization
  • Strong analytical skills

Preferred Requirements:

  • Six Sigma and Lean Training
  • Experience in coaching or mentoring in the work environment
  • Experience developing training materials
