Job Description

We’re seeking an experienced Project Architect in our Edmonton’s office who is known as trusted advisor to clients and demonstrates strong skills in managing projects, technical details and delivering on time and on budget. 

The Project Architect role includes responsibility for all aspects of project execution & delivery including client communications, design, production of plans/specifications, quality control, consultant coordination, and along with maintaining project budgets and invoices, coordinating architectural staff, and maintaining deadlines and schedules.

You will accomplish with us 

  • Delivery projects with a client-oriented service approach; 

  • Plan, direct, coordinate, execute, control and complete assigned projects with accountability and responsibility; 

  • Manage and monitor complex project deliverables, work plans, schedules, and budgets for all project phases;  

  • Lead coordination and technical understanding of project deliverables; 

  • Lead architects, designers, engineers, and required consultants through initial design, project permiting, and contract documents phases of work.  

  • Engage project stakeholders regularly by keeping them informed of delivery progress, risks, and issues as well as managing expectations on deliverables; 

  • Support design continuity and internt during construction administration phases by working with the CA team leading that phase of work; 

  • Coordinate and collaborate on-site with clients, external consultants, contractors, and vendors as needed, per project;  

  • Assist with the preparation of fees, scopes of work, proposals, and contracts; 

  • Produce feasibility studies, functional and technical programs, budgetary studies, and project cost estimates; 

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all client and design team representatives assigned to the project. 

  • Design oriented project architect - working closely with engineering and production team members.   

Qualifications

What You Need 

  • Diploma in architecture, and Professional Practice License; 

  • 3-5 years of experience in design and architecture; 

  • Registered Architect Membership in good standing with a Canadian architectural association, preferably AIBC, AAA, MAA, SAA, OAQ, or OAA; 

  • Strong skills in Project delivery through Concept Design to Tender 

  • Strong knowledge of various construction methodologies, project management models and financial management, as well as building codes, contract law and relevant legislation; 

  • LEED AP and/or PMP Certification is highly desirable; 

  • Ability to form projects and scopes of work for delivery along side a client, and principals  

  • Interest in large commercial - public and private project typologies 

  • Connections to the Architecture and Design community within Edmonton would be considered an asset  

  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset, and collaboration with Francophone communities may be an opportunity.
