Job Description
Role & Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible for managing end-to-end civil procurement activities for renewable energy and infrastructure projects, ensuring cost optimization, timely delivery, and compliance with quality and contractual standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage supply chain and procurement of civil materials and services for renewable and infrastructure projects.
- Procurement of civil works related to substations, transmission lines, wind/solar projects, including foundations, structures, roads, drainage, buildings, and allied works.
- Bottom-up cost estimation for civil works related to substations (up to 220kV), transmission line foundations, and balance-of-plant (BOP) activities.
- Prepare and implement pre-order and post-order procurement procedures, including material control plans, inspection coordination, expediting, and MIS reporting.
- Finalize vendors and subcontractors through vendor identification, rate negotiations, order finalization, and PO issuance.
- Prepare and issue Purchase Orders / Work Orders against finalized contractors and suppliers.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections, compliance checks, and timely issuance of MDCCs.
- Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance, including periodic re-evaluations.
- Handle post-award subcontractor management, including mobilization, BG submissions, billing, claims, and dispute resolution.
- Support bid management by analyzing RFPs, BOQs, and commercial terms; evaluate vendor bids and recommend optimal suppliers.
- Ensure cost optimization and savings through cost-benefit analysis, market trend studies, and alternative sourcing strategies.
- Provide market intelligence and procurement data to Engineering, Business Development, and Project teams.
- Ensure continuity of supply while complying with internal procurement policies and contractual requirements.
- Support ERP-based procurement processes including PO creation, document routing, and approvals.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.
Experience
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in civil procurement for renewable energy, infrastructure, power, or EPC projects.
- Hands-on experience in procurement of civil construction materials and services, including RCC, structural steel, foundations, roads, and building works.
- Strong knowledge of IS codes, construction standards, and industry best practices.
Technical Attributes
- Ability to provide procurement inputs such as Vendor–BOQ–BOM–Costing matrices to Engineering and Business Development teams.
- Strong understanding of contracts, commercial terms, and civil subcontracting models.
- Well-established network of civil contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
- Experience in RFP preparation, vendor shortlisting, negotiations, and contract closures.
- Awareness of commodity price volatility and market-driven procurement strategies.
