Job Description
The Legal Manager - Renewables (m/f/d) serves as the central legal advisor for the development team, ensuring legally sound structuring of SPVs (Special Purpose Vehicles) and supporting the expansion of the business model. The role provides comprehensive legal support for negotiations and execution of land and project contracts, while also implementing KYC (Know Your Customer) and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Act as a central legal point of contact for the entire Development Team; lead/support SPV structuring and implement optimal legal/commercial/tax set-ups (with external counsel/tax advisors as needed)
- Take ownership of development phase contract: draft, negotiate, and manage land option/lease/purchase and grid agreements; standardise templates, track deviations, advise on updates, and maintain audit-ready documentation
- Align with landowners, project managers, municipalities and liaise with authorities (public offices, property departments) on property/contract matters
- Obtain and analyse land registry extracts and easements, independently secure rights in rem and complete registrations
- Analyse and optimise commercial clauses; benchmark vs. market/competitors
- Track contractual payments and milestones, initiate remedies for variances
- Collaborate with institutional investors and AIFMs (Alternative Investment Fund Manager) to deliver investor-grade solutions
Qualifications
- Fully qualified German lawyer (Volljurist, 2. Staatsexamen) or Business Lawyer (LL.B./LL.M.) with a focus on commercial/energy law, corporate and contracts
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within the renewable energy, infrastructure, or real estate sectors paired with a strong expertise in drafting, negotiating, and managing complex project and land contracts
- Experience in contract and project development, property and land rights, and structuring of corporate or financing frameworks is essential
- In-depth knowledge of property law, easements, and rights in rem, particularly for renewable energy projects (PV and BESS)
- Experience in structuring and reviewing legal and commercial documentation related to SPVs, investors, and financing
- Continuous monitoring of legislative developments (esp. EEG, tenancy, contract, and energy law) and translation into internal processes
- Fluency in English and German both written and verbal
