Director, Commercial Partnerships

Job Description

The Commercial Partnerships Director sets the strategic tone for our commercial partnership discovery, acquisition and activation. They are also responsible for commercial innovation and leadership within the trading team and across the dentsu Media service line. We ask that you have knowledge of the media industry, with expertise within outdoor, radio and local media. The Director will maintain relationships with media owners and demonstrate strong commercial acumen in creating deals that deliver value for all: for our partners, our clients and ourselves. You will manage a team – developing their skills, evaluating their performance, and managing their growth. In addition to their core channel assignments, the Director is expected to take part in larger areas of agency development – aiding new business, collaborating across teams, and participating in dentsu learnings. You will report into the VP, Commercial Partnerships. NYC area is preferred, but open to remote for the right person.

 

Main Responsibilities

Commercial Excellence:

  • Add valuable deals to the US trading portfolio that improve or maintain our Agyle product set or otherwise delivers incremental value to the group
  • Work with the VP of Commercial Partnerships to ensure that our targets for inventory access or revenue are met through out deal acquisition in the market
  • Maintain strategic relationships within the outdoor, radio or local markets and ensure that Agyle is the partner of choice for media owners seeking to strike commercial deals
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of all elements of investment and media income agreements – especially relating to compliance
  • Looks to identify opportunities to improve Agyle's revenue generation, whether through client opportunities, inventory yield management, or other commercial agreements

 

Client & Internal Relationships:

  • Manage expectations for deliverables
  • Understanding of all elements of investment and media income agreements
  • Looks to identify opportunities to improve Agyle's revenue generation, whether through client opportunities, inventory yield management, or other commercial agreements
  • Be a resource for Associates and Assistants for advice, counsel and mentorship
  • Participate and present in New Business efforts and presentations
  • Establish internal relationships with other service line personnel

 

Strategic Thinking & Leadership

  • Balance, prioritize and assign work associated with multiple, concurrent projects
  • Provide guidance to team members and nurture/promote team environment
  • Help train new or junior team members
  • Ensure important information is being provided to the team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status
  • Is approachable and solution-oriented when presented with problems by staff and team
  • Construct and deliver accurate, honest performance management documents
  • Is mindful of our client's point of view when reviewing work, use this perspective when providing feedback to team
  • Breaks down problems into critical parts which can be resolved
  • Oversee management of specific projects as assigned and maintain overall plan quality control
  • Is an engaged member of the media industry, and solicit and contribute ideas

 

DEVELOPMENT GOALS:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills through staff development and ownership of department/agency initiatives
  • Presence in leading presentations and other forms of client or internal communications
  • Regarded internally as a "go to person"
  • Delegate tasks to staff to ensure appropriate utilization
  • Manage crisis or red-flag situations
  • Understanding of the financials of client/agency relationships
  • Participate in agency development and new business
  • Experience maintaining multiple engagements at once and presenting growth opportunities to management

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of analytical experience within media environment (sales or agency)
  • Negotiator and advanced numeracy skills
  • Ability to articulate strategic foundation for their development
  • Leadership experience

The anticipated salary range for this position is $94,000 - $152,375. Salary is based on a variety of factors including relevant experience, knowledge, skills and other factors permitted by law.
