Job Description

As a member of the Americas Chief Privacy Officer's team, you will help manage the Data Protection and Privacy Program for dentsu in the United States.

You will:

  • You will play an important role in the Americas Data Protection & Privacy Team, reporting to the Americas Privacy Director and working with an array of stakeholders in the U.S. market and beyond, driving privacy and data protection operational excellence within dentsu.
  • Be an expert on privacy compliance for the U.S. market, focusing on the implementation and operationalization of the Privacy Program and any applicable privacy laws, partnering with business stakeholders in dentsu Lines of Business across the United States, and their associated functional units (for example, HR, Client and Business Teams, Operations, Procurement, IT Security, etc.).
  • Provide advice and support the operationalization of privacy and data protection policies, procedures, processes, and projects, and work with the Americas Privacy Director to help develop an annual privacy plan for the United States.
  • Manage the operationalization of the U.S. annual privacy plan, and report key performance indicators to the Americas Privacy Director and Americas General Counsel.
  • Conduct testing to assess Privacy Program operational effectiveness against Americas privacy and data protection standards, reporting gaps to the Americas Privacy Director, and working collaboratively to address any gaps.
  • Organize and support data protection and privacy committee meetings with key stakeholders to enforce Privacy Program requirements and ensure the program is cascaded to Privacy Champions and other key stakeholders throughout the organization, at the direction of the Americas Privacy Director.
  • Participate and help manage security incidents and related investigations by the Americas General Counsel and Americas Privacy Director and help undertake remedial actions.
  • Conduct reviews and support data protection impact assessments for all new products and services, ensuring due consideration is given to technical and organizational measures to protect and safeguard personal data and include elements of privacy by design and by default.
  • Ensure privacy and data protection training is implemented and completed by all employees, help lead supplemental training programs, which will include creating custom training sessions for business units and maintain the competencies of our U.S. network of Privacy Champions.
  • Help administer the privacy and data protection components of the U.S. supplier assurance program, investigating vendor relationships, reviewing compliance questionnaires, and ensuring issues are escalated.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of data protection and privacy laws and regulations that affect the U.S. market, and update the Americas Privacy Director of any changes that may have an impact on dentsu's business interests.
  • Review and respond to consumer privacy rights requests following CCPA

Qualifications

  • 3-9 years of legal or compliance experience, with 2+ years of experience in privacy program management or program building.
  • Experience working directly with ad-tech, data suppliers or addressable digital advertising a big plus.
  • An understanding of data protection and privacy laws and regulations, including CCPA, HIPAA, TCPA, GDPR, COPPA, and U.S. and Canadian anti-spam laws.
  • Familiarity with ad-industry privacy standards and self-regulatory principles such as the Digital Advertising Alliance, Interactive Advertising Bureau's CCPA standards, and the Network Advertising Initiative.
  • Experience working within large organizations and managing large-scale data protection compliance projects (i.e., conducting interviews for a large data inventory or an organization-wide privacy and security gap analysis).
  • BA/BS degree required; JD preferred.
  • Any of the following certifications are strongly preferred: CIPP/US, CIPP/E or CIPM.
