The Z of 2030 and 2050 needs to look very different to today and joining our newly formed Energy Solutions team as a Kaitirotiro Kounga Kounga Hiko Electrical Quality Assurance Inspector will see you using your electrical knowledge and skills to develop and implement processes to help ensure safe, compliant, and reliable installation, testing and maintenance of electric vehicle chargers, solar systems and battery energy storage systems of varying sizes, complexity, and locations.

You will have the opportunity to

  • Inspect, review and generate reports for electrical equipment including installation, testing, issue identification, and repair of electronic, electrical, and electro-mechanical products
  • Provide guidance and training to installation and maintenance providers
  • Identify discrepancies between country and company standards and customer installations including rectification of any issues identified
  • Participate and assist with root cause analysis processes and provide recommendations to rectify issues and help ensure procedures, policies and agreements meet standards and customer expectations
  • Make recommendations around electrical design for product installation, or maintenance procedures
  • Assist in ensuring all standards adhere to and are kept up to date with electrical standards throughout New Zealand
  • Assist with development, implementation and continuous improvement of a Quality Management System for electrical equipment installation, maintenance and disposal activities including reporting, data collection and delivery across all key areas

Qualifications

What you’ll bring to Z

  • A registered and practising Electrical Inspector (as per EWRB requirements) with an Electrical Trade background including Industrial electrical experience - ideally 7-10 years’ experience of installation, testing, supervision and high voltage knowledge
  • Experience in mentoring and training as well as supervising work
  • Experience in leading investigations, presenting findings and recommending outcomes
  • Experience with working with regulators and an understanding of relevant codes of practice and their application
  • Strong knowledge of risk management systems, quality control systems and their application to ensure safe work practices
  • Knowledge of electrical asset installation and maintenance activities, including on site experience
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence change to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • The ability to self organise and take a continuous improvement approach to processes
  • Strong project management skills to achieve required to oversee service providers cost, schedule and quality targets
  • A practical working knowledge and the ability to be hands on with equipment repair and maintenance skills

The base salary range for this role is $129,200 to $152,000 per annum, plus 15% bonus based on company performance, a 5% KiwiSaver employer contribution and health insurance through Southern Cross.
