The Assistant Controller is committed to ensuring our accounting records are complete, accurate, and compliant with all applicable standards. Willing to learn and take ownership of assigned areas and periodically take on new challenges. Partners with Wynn team members of all levels throughout the organization to ensure the free flow of information for financial reporting purposes. Acts as a role model and coach while developing employees using a consistent, approachable demeanor and clearly articulating expectations. Works as a change agent to improve and streamline department operations, through the continuous assessment of policies and procedures, work processes and documentation. Establishes and endorses the business objectives, ethics, and values of Wynn Resorts.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Leading the daily audit and monthly close processes for Wynn’s hotel and food & beverage revenue audit departments; including preparing, reviewing, and posting journal entries, and preparing and reviewing account and system reconciliations.
- Partner with other departments (hotel and F&B operations and others) and company executives, providing responsive service in a courteous and professional manner at all times, in accordance with Wynn standards.
- Lead the adoption of technology-enabled process improvement and automation, including through the use of AI tools.
- Assisting with system implementations.
- Coach, develop, and mentor junior team members.
- Preparing and/or reviewing various reports for executive management review.
- Maintaining adequate documentation of internal controls over financial reporting in accordance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required.
- An understanding of U.S. GAAP and general ledger accounting.
- At least three to four years’ experience in nongaming revenue audit.
- Proficiency in the use of various IT applications, including Microsoft Excel and accounting & financial reporting systems.
- Must have operational empathy and an understanding of the needs of all parts of the business.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to build relationships of trust with personnel at all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
Preferred:
- Practical experience in general ledger accounting.
- CPA certification and/or public accounting experience a plus.
