Job Description

We’re looking for a Business Analyst to join our Merchant Finance & Strategy team. You will be building and operating a “Deal Desk” process where our central team works together with the local commercial teams in assessing business cases for bigger Merchant contracts and commitments. We have the first pieces of the process in place already, but we need to level up in how we operate. This includes further educating commercial teams on how to assess the ROI on contracts, building and rolling out further improved templates and also keeping track on earlier made commitments. On top of this, we also need to plan for where and how many commitments we want to make.

You will be supported by your colleagues in the Merchant Finance & Strategy Team and your key counterparts would sit in our Global Merchant team as well as in our local commercial teams. You would also get to work closely with our Regional Finance & Strategy colleagues who are overlooking the whole P&L for our 27 countries.

The location of the role would be in Wolt HQ in Helsinki.

Your team

  • The Finance & Strategy (F&S) team ensures that our top management, both central and in the 27 countries that we operate in, have timely, correct and insightful information at hand for decision making. We strive to help and challenge our stakeholders to make sure we’re optimizing all aspects of the business.
  • We’re responsible for Wolt’s management reporting, P&L analysis, forecasting & budgeting processes and planning systems. Our stakeholders vary from our investors and top executives to country and functional leadership, as well as the wider finance team that we’re an integral part of.
  • The Merchant Finance & Strategy team today has four members looking across our Merchant domain including merchant side revenue, selection growth, operational efficiency, headcount and cost efficiency. This naturally with the Finance lenses so we can tie our planning and performance to the P&L

Responsibilities:

  • Support in developing what we call the “Deal Desk” and make sure we define and roll-out standard ways for assessing and tracking more sizeable contracts globally; we need to strike the right balance between quick review and having the proper diligence
  • Build a standardized P&L model for how we assess the deals we’re considering to make; think of it as standardizing our ways of assessing the ROI under different deal structures
  • Collaborate with local sales teams on best practices and lessons learned from other countries - what kind of structures and terms have we used elsewhere and which appear to bring the best return for us
  • Partner with analytics, product and legal teams to continue to improve the efficacy of our deals
  • Maintain robust tracking to keep us honest with how we’re performing in this area
  • Support with ad hoc requests in areas relating to our Merchant Partner performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience building financial models and tools that someone with limited spreadsheet experience can operate (while not breaking)
  • You’re used to working with different BI tools and you’re not afraid of getting your hands dirty digging for data (Looker and SQL are our key tools of trade)
  • You might have worked within a high paced environment in professional services (banking / consulting)
  • You’re able to stand your ground and influence senior leaders whenever you have the case for it - this is a process that inherently comes loaded with conflicting interests in closing deals quickly vs making sure they’re closed with proper terms
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner, in English
