Wolt grade - Junior Engineers Program
- Department: Engineering
Company Description
Wolt is a technology company that makes it incredibly easy to discover and get the best restaurants, grocery stores and other local shops delivered to your home or office. Wolt works together with over 52,000 restaurant and retail partners as well as with over 110,000 courier partners across 23 countries and 210 cities.
Our apps (iOS and Android) have the industry’s highest reviews, largely because of our customer-centric approach to how we build our products and operations. For example, our customer service team responds in a matter of seconds, in the customer’s own language.
We’ve raised more than €707M in financing from renowned U.S. and European based investors, such as ICONIQ Capital, Tiger Global, DST, Prosus, KKR, Coatue, 83North, Goldman Sachs, Highland Europe and EQT Ventures & EQT Growth, among others. We've also been fortunate enough to receive some appreciation and recognition for our hard work along the way: Apple selected Wolt’s app as their Editors' Choice, Wired named the company one of the "Hottest Startups in Europe," Forbes included our CEO Miki Kuusi on its 30-under-30 in Consumer Tech list, and the Nordic Startup Awards named Wolt Company of the Year.
In 2020, the Financial Times named us Europe’s second fastest growing company. We’re still expanding rapidly and are looking for more talented individuals to join us. If you are passionate about cutting-edge technology, great food, and making an impact in your city, then Wolt just might be for you.
Wolt is more than just a food and retail delivery operation – in fact we are built upon a solid foundation of state-of-the-art technology. Our internal tooling enables us to ramp up new cities efficiently and provide excellent customer service, our own logistics platform allows us to optimise our couriers' work to get you the food you want as fast as possible, and our restaurant platform allows restaurants to offer exciting food experiences for our customers in an optimal way.
We work in small teams with high ownership, with each team focusing on a key area of the Wolt product stack. Each and every one of our product team members has a say in where we are going and what solutions we implement. We work with a passion, but we haven't forgotten how to have fun along the way!

QA
Do I need to be based in Finland? Do you offer relocation support?
At Wolt, we have a hybrid setup. You can be based anywhere in Finland, Germany, Estonia, Denmark, or Sweden. We have our tech hubs in Helsinki and Berlin and in those locations the office space is also available. In other above-mentioned places, this would be a fully remote opportunity. We don’t offer relocation service for this specific program but you should be already in one of those countries with a valid work permit.
I want to apply; what happens after I send my application?
If you are selected for the first round, you will get an invite for the next step by the latest on the following week the application period ends. We will be in touch with each and every candidate who applied regardless of the outcome. The recruitment process includes, for example, a home assignment to showcase your skills in practice, a technical interview, and a meeting with your possible team lead. The technical interview does not include live coding: there will be discussions about the technical assignment, different technical topics, and potentially some code reading tasks.
We are aiming to make the decisions in the October-November time frame.
I'm a student/ fresh graduate. Can I apply?
This is a full-time and permanent opportunity for engineers with some prior experience in the field. If you have some experience and can work full-time, you can definitely apply. A separate entry-level internship program (paid, of course!) will follow in January, so stay tuned.
I'm interested in working with Kotlin but I don't have experience in Kotlin specifically?
Experience in modern Java is highly relevant as well.
I’m interested in backend development/ mobile development. Do I need to have experience in all the technologies mentioned in that area?
Definitely not! We are looking for backend engineers in three different technology areas: Python, Kotlin, and Scala so experience in one of these is required. The same goes for the mobile side.
What is the compensation for these roles?
The compensation consists of a monthly salary and stock options. The monthly salary level is around 3000-5000 euros depending on your level of experience and also location.
When would the start date be?
The start date is flexible and negotiable based on your situation.
