Job Description

The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality assurance systems to ensure that all rope products meet industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. This role oversees quality control processes throughout the entire manufacturing cycle—from raw material inspection to final product testing—ensuring consistent product performance, safety, and durability.

The Quality Manager leads the quality team which supports the production team in ensuring that in-process material and finished products leaving the WireCo plant meets or exceeds internal and external quality standards.  The Quality Manager plays a critical role in maintaining compliance with international standards (e.g., ISO certifications), managing testing protocols for tensile strength, abrasion resistance, load capacity, and environmental performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across production operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the Quality function within the facility
    • Serve as a member of the facility’s leadership team and maintain a dotted line relationship with the plant leader
    • Coordinate the sustainment of the local quality management processes, focused on ISO 9001:2015 Clauses 6 through 9, and complying with WireCo’s Quality Policy, Quality Manual, and applicable policies
      • Clause 6 = Planning (risks, opportunities, and quality objectives)
      • Clause 7 = Support (resources, competence, awareness, and documented information)
      • Clause 8 = Operation (operational planning, control, product and services requirements, design, and external provider control)
      • Clause 9 = Performance Evaluation (monitoring, measurement, analysis, internal audits, and management review)
    • Develop, maintain, and report pertinent Quality KPIs
    • Train and coach the use of quality tools such as FMEA, Control Plans, 5 WHY, Fault Trees, and 8Ds
  • Partner with Quality team members outside of your facility and other WireCo functional teams such as Materials Engineering, Technical Service Engineering, and Procurement to maintain additional elements of the quality system and achieve business objectives
  • Lead local quality team members
    • Identify and develop talent
    • Manage performance through clear goal setting and performance review activities
    • Keep Quality team apprised of departmental and organizational objectives and updates through regular 1-on-1s.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a minimum of 10 years’ experience as a Quality Management professional    
  • 7 years as a Quality Management professional
  • 5 years supervisory experience
  • 5 years in a manufacturing environment
  • Bilingual (English/native language of the home plant)
  • Ability and willingness to travel internationally (<10%)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Material Science Engineering
  • Six Sigma certification
  • Quality Management Systems required, ISO 9001 and API Q1
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
