Job Description
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is a critical role for the organization in WireCo’s journey to “be the preferred supplier to our core customers”. This leadership position will promote commercial excellence through world class sales growth and account management. The BDM will lead by example all the aspects of WireCo Business System (WBS) including the Behaviors – teamwork, accountable, self-aware, noble intent, determined, transparent, and curious.
As a Business Development Manager, your focus is to expand our business by identifying new prospects and maintaining and growing our key customer base in accordance with our strategic plan. You will work independently to hunt for new opportunities. While demands may vary by the market and day, the greatest success comes when you can spend the bulk of your time driving sustainable, profitable growth through boosting sales and forging strong relationships with clients. A critical aspect of your role will be providing keen insight into market micro and macro drivers and trends and competitive analysis. As a Business Development Manager, you will be a member of one of the industry teams.

Duties & Responsibilities
Sales and Strategy
- Deliver against the 5-year WBS strategic plan by developing growth target initiatives for key accounts, engaging with your end market industry segment, generating annual market forecasting, and working closely with PMs to develop and feed the innovation funnel
- Research organizations and individuals to find new opportunities, and contact potential clients to establish rapport and arrange meetings
- Negotiate new contracts with clients
- Participate in relevant professional organizations, associations, trade shows, and conventions to further the WireCo brand
- Stay current on competitive product offerings, pricing, and market segment strategies and develop strategies to keep WireCo and its client base competitive in the commercial market segments
- Determine economic value proposition of WireCo products and educate Product Managers on how to effectively communicate the value prop to solve customer pain points to get the maximum value for the product
- Communicate the economic value proposition of the accounts to the Regional and Territory managers with the goal of aligning resources to ensure prioritization by customer account
- Ability to speak with customers with technical proficiency on products, processes, and equipment (e.g., why lifecycles will perform better and how the equipment works)
People
- Maintain strong relationships with "A" accounts by understanding pain points and providing solutions, visiting customers to address technical solutions, and facilitating pricing contract negotiations
- Work with Regional Managers to help direct broad end market pricing and product placement strategies to reach annual growth targets
- Work with Territory Managers to support local budget initiatives for your end market, and coordinate customer location visits to develop key target initiatives
- Spend approximately 50% of time communicating with internal stakeholders, such as but not limited to, End Market Leaders, Sales Management, Engineering and Product Management, Planning, Customer Care and Marketing Team
- Spend approximately 50% of time communicating with external stakeholders, such as customers and prospects
- Formal Sandler Sales Training will be required within the first year of employment (company sponsored) Proficiency with technology products (CRM systems, Microsoft Suite, etc.)
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- University degree in either Business, Engineering or related discipline required; or 10 years of direct experience in lieu of a degree; Advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of industry experience or 10+ years of proven business development experience in another industry
- In-depth management knowledge across several functions or businesses
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Active driver’s license and passport
- English required; Multiple language proficiency is preferred
- Formal Sandler Sales Training will be required within the first year of employment (company sponsored). Proficiency with technology products (CRM systems, Microsoft Suite, etc.)
