Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for safely carrying out the work assignments received from the Distribution Center Manager.  Primary responsibilities include fabrication, wire rope handling, cutting, packaging, and shipment preparation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Checks for incoming and outgoing materials, locates reels.
  • Responsible for cutting and handling of rope for shipment or fabrication.
  • Operates rewinding machine, spooling and coiling various sizes of rope and strand in accordance with customer’s orders.
  • Inspects rope for quality and works with others to load and unload trucks and assembling reels.
  • Prepares reels and coils for shipment with tags and shipping papers.
  • Strand and Wire rope of various diameters and lengths, on reels or in coils, empty or unassembled reels, paper lagging strips, tags, seizing wire, blocking, thimbles.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to learn all processes and show competency 
  • A high school diploma or GED

Materials and Equipment Directly Used

  • Standard office equipment including computer, mouse, keyboard, telephone, multifunction copier
  • Rewinding machines, stanchions, shafts, collars, bushings, rope cutters, measuring devise, fork trucks, banding equipment, welders, various hand tools.
  • Personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed safety shoes

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • An applicant must complete a satisfactory background check post-offer of employment.  A criminal conviction will not be an automatic bar to employment.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screen and physical (if required)
