Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Financial Accounting Intern to join our team. This internship provides an exciting opportunity to work closely with Presidents of local companies, senior management, and the Finance and Accounting teams to support monthly and annual financial reporting. The intern will gain hands-on experience in general ledger management, financial analysis, and accounting processes, while assisting in the preparation of accurate financial statements and year-end reports. The ideal candidate should be eager to learn, possess strong analytical skills, and have a solid foundation in accounting principles. This position is designed for individuals looking to build experience in financial accounting and corporate finance.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Act as controller and/or CPA for individual companies, providing guidance on financial matters.
  • Assist with the quarterly dividend process, advising on appropriate dividend payments and providing data and analytics to support recommendations.
  • Collaborate with local operations and corporate teams to build strong partnerships that contribute to company success.
  • Support the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for 70-110 companies within 2 business days.
  • Prepare and analyze complex financial statements for 80-120 companies.
  • Partner with local company Presidents and Winsupply management to review financial performance.
  • Analyze financial data to produce accurate monthly local company financial statements.
  • Assist with corporate accounting and related projects.
  • May be involved in acquisition accounting for Non-Wise Companies.
  • Coordinate with outside auditors on accounting projects and related topics.
  • Prepare and maintain year-end audit work papers and assist in audit activities.
  • Ensure OnBase GL account reconciliations are completed and updated monthly.
  • Assist with dividend decisions and cash flow management for local companies.
  • Maintain and update Real Estate Management System with lease obligations, including taxes, CAM, insurance, and payment accuracy.
  • Support and maintain a strong internal control environment.
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Collaborate with other FAAST personnel to discuss ongoing trends and work-related topics.
  • Ensure that board actions are properly documented and associated work is completed.
  • Lead initiatives on accounting changes, standards, and implementations within the team.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in University/College.  Either Undergrad or Masters.
  • One semester post-graduation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Grade level junior or higher.
