Job Description
At Atlassian Williams F1 Team, our Industrial Placement gives ambitious students 12 months inside Formula 1. You’ll take on real responsibility with projects that shape the future car and our business. Grow with a cohort from day one, then head back to uni with experience you can apply immediately. Join a high-performance team, push boundaries, make an impact.
The Electronics, Software & Controls department looks after the electrical and electronic systems installed across the race car. In this placement, you’ll help design and install the assemblies and harnesses that get those systems onto the car, working alongside other engineering disciplines to keep everything wired, fitted and race-ready.
In this placement, you’ll take electrical installation components from initial concept through to a finished part fitted on the car. You’ll weigh up mass, stiffness and cost as you design, then work with test and production teams to prove your ideas hold up on track.
- Design and detail electrical installation components, balancing weight, strength and cost
- Support structural and functional calculations that back up your designs
- Work with aerodynamics, chassis, electronics and production teams, putting teamwork into practice as you fit systems into the wider car
- Draw on resilience as you investigate faults and see each one through to a fix
Qualifications
What we are looking for:
- Studying towards a degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, Marine or a related engineering discipline
- Some experience with CAD is useful, but full training is provided
- Ideally practical applications or examples of parts which you have designed, made, or worked on, either as a hobby or as part of an activity such as Formula Student
