Job Description
This role reports to the Clinical Service Manager of Children's Mental Health.
Accountabilities:
- Conduct assessments
- Apply behavior management strategies; assist staff, parents and teachers in understanding and the application of these approaches
- Conduct groups and provide case management services for children and youth with complex needs
Qualifications
- Child and youth work diploma
- Current member of Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counsellors
- Undergraduate Degree in Psychology would be an asset
- Two to three years current experience in child and adolescent mental health, conducting behavioral assessments with children, adolescents, and families, and responding to challenging behavior in a hospital/group home/classroom setting
- Demonstrated ability to work in collaboration with other team members to develop and implement individualized treatment approaches for patients and families in the context of a milieu setting, using evidence based approaches
- Knowledge of the major disorders of childhood
- Demonstrated ability to assist in modeling effective behavior management strategies
- Experience in collaborating with teachers
- Experience in developing and conducting therapeutic groups
- Experience in providing case management services
- Must be willing to work in secure, open, and day hospital settings

- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Computer proficiency
- Excellent attendance, punctuality and work record
Additional Information
Hours: Currently Days, 12 hour shifts including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
Salary:
Minimum: $36.58 per hour
Maximum: $46.82 per hour
