Facility Experience Technican

  • Full-time
  • Location: Auckland
  • Employment Type: Permanent Full Time Employee
  • Department: Tourism Auckland

Company Description

We’re Wētā Workshop – a design and manufacture facility making imaginary worlds a reality… from creatures to costumes, make-up to miniatures, weapons, vehicles, worlds and more! Our crew strive each day to push the boundaries of what can be achieved with physical effects.

We drew inspiration from the work we do to create Wētā Workshop Unleashed - a venue made by our own artists and makers, taking guests on a journey through a reimagined film effects workshop.

Job Description

We are looking for a Facility Experience Technician to join us, helping to ensure the Unleashed experience operates in a safe and reliable manner so that our guests’ experience is the best it can be.

Learning how our assets are built and operated, you’ll be key in ensuring they run effectively (with help where needed from our Wellington Weta Workshop team.) You’ll be responsible for ensuring our attraction is maintained at a high level – routine maintenance checks, managing issues and carrying out technical checks, as well as proactively promoting a healthy and safe working environment.

You’ll also manage any contractors on-site and maintain a positive working relationship with SkyCity (where our great venue is located).

What we’re looking for in you?

Ideally, you’ll have experience in a manufacturing environment, building film sets or a mechanical background.

A robust understanding of Health and Safety practices and familiarity with manufacturing/industrial processes in a production environment will also help.

You will be a strong communicator and be able to manage trade and service providers effectively.

You can find out more in our job description here – but you don’t need to tick every box to be considered. If you think you would be a good match but you don’t have all the experience we’re asking for, we’d still be keen to hear from you.

Additional Information

This is very much an onsite role, and there is an expectation that the person who fills it will be available outside of work hours on occasion should we have urgent maintenance requirements.

The standard hours are Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.

We have a friendly crew who are passionate about the work they do, providing our guests with a unique experience. You’ll have a manager who will support your development, and there will be opportunities for learning in the role.

There’s also discounted car parking!

If you’d like to no more, you can reach out to recruitment@wetaworkshop.co.nz – otherwise if you’re already keen, we’d love to hear from you soon.

If we can do anything to accommodate you during the recruitment or interview process, please let us know.

Applicants will need to undergo a Ministry of Justice check as part of our recruitment process.

You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this role.
