Job Description

Are you ready to be the driving force behind the resort's engineering and maintenance operations. With your extensive technical expertise and leadership acumen, you will oversee the Engineering department, ensuring the highest standards of excellence, safety, and guest satisfaction. You will play a pivotal role in upholding our commitment to providing exceptional vacation experiences. You will lead a team of skilled professionals, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to drive innovation and continuous improvement in engineering practices.

As Chief Engineer, you will:

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision and direction for the Engineering department, aligning with the resort's overall goals and objectives
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the Engineering team fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence while enforcing accountability
  • Implement, train, and enforce safety protocols and procedures, ensuring a safe and secure environment for guests and employees
  • Responsible for creating and effectively managing the Engineering Department’s schedule & budget; reserves and capital expenditures, P&L reviews and forecasting expenses
  • Oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of the resort's infrastructure, mechanical systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Lead the planning and execution of major Capital and Reserves improvement projects, from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to quality standards, budgets, and timelines
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory authorities, ensuring contract compliance and effective partnership
  • Responsible for the procurement and inventory of all tools and materials purchased and assigned to the Engineering Department
  • Ability to develop documents using Microsoft Office applications such as Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experienced in F&B, Grounds, Pools, Landscaping and Laundry maintenance & operations
  • Experienced in effectively operating resort operations devices & software (HotSOS)
  • Communicate professionally through radios, phones, emails, and verbal communications
  • Perform custodial and maintenance duties, as needed
  • Expert ability to read & interpret blueprints, technical data, and O&M manuals
  • Must have the ability to recognize and resolve potential hazards on the property
  • Expert ability to use hand tools, electrical and battery-powered tools and any other pertinent tool required by the work at hand
  • Ability to work using ladders, scaffolds, lifts, dust masks and work in confined/tight spaces
  • Ability to communicate and interpret guest needs by positively interacting towards resolutions
  • Must comply with all CFI /Westgate Resorts policies and procedures
  • Must always represent Westgate Resorts in a professional manner through appearance, dress, and professional behavior
  • Other duties as assigned by resort operations leadership

Qualifications

  • 3 years or more of leadership experience in a resort/commercial environment
  • Minimum High School diploma, Bachelors, or Associate’s in a maintenance related field
  • Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License
  • Preferably licensed or certified in the major trades; refrigeration, plumbing or electrical
  • OSHA Safety Certification preferred.
  • Required to pass a background check, drug test, and prove eligibility to work in the United States
