  • Full-time, Ongoing position at HEW Level 6. 
  • Parramatta South campus, with flexible working arrangements. 
  • Salary: $95,777 – $102,659 per annum, plus 17% Super and Leave Loading.

Provide expert technical support that helps deliver safe, high quality learning and research environments.

The Opportunity 
In this role, you will contribute to high quality learning and research experiences by supporting the delivery of practical classes and assisting researchers in the discipline of Chemistry. You will prepare laboratory spaces, set up equipment, and ensure safe use of specialised instrumentation across teaching and research activities.

You will play an important role in maintaining complex analytical equipment, coordinating servicing schedules, managing chemical inventories, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Working as part of the multidisciplinary Chemical and Biological Sciences team, you may also provide technical support to Biological Sciences programs depending on operational needs. Your work will directly support students, academics, researchers and Higher Degree Research candidates.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Practical laboratory spaces are well prepared, safe and fully equipped for teaching activities. 
  • Researchers and HDR students receive timely and accurate technical advice and support.
  • Complex analytical equipment is maintained, calibrated and operated effectively.
  • Chemical inventories, SDS records and waste disposal processes comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Standard Operating Procedures are developed, maintained and followed across the technical team.
  • Actively contribute to identifying and recommending areas of improvement through Continuous Improvement or Kaizen programs.

About You 

  • Undergraduate qualification in Chemistry or equivalent relevant experience and training.
  • Extensive experience in a Chemistry laboratory or related facility.
  • Skilled in operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting method development for complex chemical instrumentation.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proactive problem solving with an emphasis on continuous improvement
  • A current WWCC is required for success in this role.
