Company Description

WD is building the infrastructure behind the AI-driven data economy.

As AI scales, so does data. Every interaction, every model, every system generates data that must be stored, managed, and made accessible over time. That’s where we come in.

We combine deep engineering expertise with global-scale manufacturing to deliver the storage systems that make AI possible, powering hyperscale data centers, cloud platforms, and enterprise infrastructure worldwide.

This isn’t theoretical work. It’s real systems, at real scale, people solving some of the hardest challenges in technology today.

We’re looking for people who want to build, solve, and operate at that level.

Join us and let’s shape the future of data.

Job Description

The Director, Process Intelligence & Business Transformation, leads Western Digital's enterprise process intelligence program, owning the object-centric Process Mining capability (Celonis OCPM) that serves as the analytical engine for identifying, diagnosing, and prioritizing process improvement opportunities across WD's core business operations.

This role is the primary bridge between raw transactional data and actionable re-engineering initiatives — surfacing process inefficiencies, conformance gaps, and automation candidates across Oracle Fusion Cloud-based processes spanning the full enterprise process taxonomy, including Source-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Record-to-Report, Plan-to-Fulfill, Concept-to-Offer, Offer-to-Plan, and Lead-to-Order.

The role institutionalizes the capability: it stands up and operates the Process Mining Center of Excellence, governs the shared object-centric data model as an enterprise asset, builds and sustains a business relay network across value streams, and maintains evidence-based process documentation anchored on mined baselines and explicit targets.

This leader operates at the intersection of data, process, technology, and AI, translating complex object-centric process analysis into prioritized, investment-ready transformation opportunities with a defined handover to executing owners, and co-driving the adoption of AI-enabled process intelligence at scale.

Excellence in delivery and the development of IT/BSG resources into full process mining proficiency is a standing objective shared with the Sr. Director, Business Program Architecture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Center of Excellence & Operating Model

  • Stand up and operate the Process Mining Center of Excellence: charter, named roles, decision rights matrix, steering-group cadence, prioritization board, and business-unit engagement contracts
  • Define and publish the candidate prioritization framework — value and feasibility criteria with scoring anchors, QCD (Quality/Cost/Delivery) evidence-based scoring modes, and heat maps — so that which processes enter the program is governed by transparent criteria rather than demand pressure

Process Mining & Analytics

  • Own and scale WD's object-centric Process Mining program on Celonis as the primary diagnostic engine for enterprise process health
  • Act as the design authority for the enterprise object-centric data model (OCDM): modeling standards, extension policy, object type ownership, change review gates, model catalogue, and data footprint / license consumption control.
  • Establish and maintain automated data pipelines from Oracle Fusion and any other relevant sources (via AWS data lake or direct EMS connectors) to the process mining platform, ensuring data fidelity and refresh cadence SLAs
  • Design and govern end-to-end process mining data models across source systems, integrating event logs from modules including SCM, Procurement, Financials, and Order Management
  • Build and maintain a library of PQL-based KPIs, conformance checks, and variant analyses across all in-scope processes
  • Translate process graph outputs — throughput times, rework rates, conformance deviations, and automation opportunity scores — into clearly packaged, investment-ready findings for business unit-led prioritization, including realization measurement defined at drafting time.
  • Scope and lead the Task Mining capability as a complementary lens on task-level effort and automation candidates, feeding granular task logs into the process mining analysis.

Evidence-Based Process Documentation & Modeling

  • Own mined observed process baselines per candidate (Process Adherence Manager), refined with business relays and exported as BPMN into the enterprise architecture repository as the as-is record.
  • Define target process models with expected QCD values, validated in process simulation (digital twin) before commitment, and maintain conformance charters.
  • Align BPMN conventions between the enterprise architecture repository and the mining platform, and keep baselines and targets under version control
  • Develop team and relay proficiency in process modeling (BPMN 2.0) as a core capability.

Process Re-Engineering & Optimization

  • Lead cross-functional process re-engineering initiatives from current-state diagnosis through future-state design and implementation
  • Apply BPMN 2.0, Lean, Six Sigma, and Design Thinking methodologies to redesign processes that eliminate waste, reduce cycle time, and improve control compliance
  • Drive standardization of process designs across business units and geographies, reducing process variants and operational complexity

AI-Enabled Process Intelligence & Automation

  • Drive adoption of AI capabilities at scale: guided analysis for business users, agent integrations and orchestration for automated and human-in-the-loop interventions.
  • Contribute to the architectural design decision on the relationship between the Celonis Process Intelligence Graph and the Enterprise Knowledge Graph (EKG): system of record for process context consumed by agents, and what flows between them.
  • Maintain a continuous technology watch on platform evolution — catalog additions, adherence and simulation capabilities, agent-facing interfaces — evaluating new capabilities for program adoption and reporting consumption trends against the license model

Measurement & Value Realization

  • Freeze baseline KPI values per candidate and track process KPIs continuously against frozen baselines and defined targets.
  • Track realized value per opportunity against estimate, confirmed by the executing owner, and publish the value scorecard to steering committees
  • Track process mining and task mining capabilities adoption.

Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management

  • Act as a trusted advisor to functional leaders across Procurement, Finance, Supply Chain, and Sales Operations on process health and improvement opportunities
  • Build and lead a team of process mining analysts, process architects, and transformation program managers within the CoE.
  • Develop IT/BSG relays and analysts to full process mining proficiency and maintain a standing level of excellence in delivery, an objective shared with the Sr. Director, Business Program Architecture.
  • Define and operate a tiered training curriculum mapped onto the Celonis Academy object-centric certifications (data engineers, analysts, relays and business users, executives), supplemented with program-specific modules.
  • Drive change management strategies for process transformation initiatives, including communication planning, training, and adoption measurement
  • Package and present process mining findings in executive-ready formats that enable informed decision-making by Finance and business leadership.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years in business transformation, process excellence, or consulting; 5+ years in a people leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience with Celonis, UiPath Process Mining, SAP Signavio, or equivalent platform; ability to author data models and analytical queries.
  • Proficiency in SQL/PQL; experience working with cloud data platforms (AWS, Snowflake, or similar) and large-scale transactional datasets.
  • Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt minimum, Black Belt preferred), BPMN 2.0, Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to build teams, influence across matrixed organizations, and deliver outcomes without direct budget authority.

PREFERRED

  • Experience in the technology hardware, semiconductor, or data storage industry
  • Knowledge of Oracle Fusion Cloud (Procurement, SCM, Financials, Order Management) or equivalent enterprise ERP Experience
  • Track record of delivering measurable process improvement outcomes at enterprise scale
