Job Description

The Applications and Validation Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless integration, performance optimization, and reliability of Western Digital storage solutions within customer environments. This position involves hands-on system setup, validation testing, and in-depth technical analysis to support product quality and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented problem solver with strong analytical skills and a passion for working with complex systems and cutting-edge storage technologies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform end-to-end system setup, validation testing, and configuration across various platforms, including NAS, CCTV, and server environments to ensure product readiness and reliability.
  • Conduct detailed failure analysis and debug technical issues by capturing and reviewing system logs, SATA bus traces, and other diagnostic data from end-user environments.
  • Analyze customer workloads, real-world application behaviors, and usage patterns to evaluate device performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Fine-tune Western Digital storage devices to maximize performance, compatibility, and functionality in diverse customer applications.
  • Work closely with internal engineering, firmware, QA, and product teams, as well as external customers and partners, to support system integration and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance during product evaluation, system integration, validation, and troubleshooting phases to ensure smooth adoption and deployment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Practical experience in setting up, validating, or testing platforms such as NAS systems, CCTV systems, or servers.
  • Strong understanding of computer hardware architecture and operating systems, including Linux and Windows.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and deliver within project timelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Motivated fresh graduates are encouraged to apply. 1-2 years of relevant industry experience will be an advantage.
  • Ability to remain composed and productive under pressure while driving timely issue resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Hands-on experience with bus analyzers, protocol analyzers, or firmware debugging tools is a strong advantage.
  • Background in server, storage, or network debugging is considered a plus.
  • Knowledge of storage interfaces and protocols—including SAS, SATA, and USB—will be an added advantage.
