Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Analyze, understand and document development requirements of product designs
· Carry out detailed electronic circuit design, including simulation
· Design and implement electronics design by selecting components, schematic design and perform PCB layout as well as integrate and test the hardware platform.
· Conduct product verification against defined hardware specification, prepare design documentation and support design transition to manufacturing as necessary.
· Assume technical lead role in project as necessary to provide the technical direction, technical decision and risk mitigation.
· Identify opportunity to improve within the functional team and participate in improvement activities.
· Create and maintain BOMs of the new designs
· Select new electronic parts, taking into consideration: obsolescence, availability and cost
· Perform and evaluate costing studies meeting the costing targets
· Liaise with project manager and a cross functional team to produce prototypes.
· Perform design FMEA to reduce risks of performance failures.
· Create & maintain technical documentation (schematics, specifications, performance, and bring-up reports)
· Work in a team for continuous development and improvement of products / parts / firmware.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or relevant courses, Master’s or PhD preferred
· Experience in detailed design with schematic capture until PCB layout using industry standard EDA tools (Cadence, Mentor Graphics, etc.)
· Min 5-10 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
· Work independently with minimum supervision
· Excellent English communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
· Good team work, willing to learn, logical thinker and able to work under pressure
· Self motivated and result oriented.
Skills & Abilities:
· Able to work independently and possess independent thinking ability.
· Possess strong learning agility and passionate in mastering the embedded hardware architecture design.
· Passionate in developing product that meets product requirements and customer expectations.
· Strong computer skills, decision making, problem solving and excellent verbal / written communication skills.
· Ability to work in a cross-functional and cross-cultural team environment.
· Possess the skill and passion to mentor junior engineers.
