Job Description

Summary:

In this highly visible role, you will be responsible for the Executive Communications for the CEO Designate of Western Digital.

You will be responsible for creating and managing content and communications for the CEO Designate, reporting to the Chief of Staff. You will develop a communication strategy and messaging hierarchy, content and messaging for internal and external audiences, as well as partnering with the communications communities across the business. Key audiences include investors, analysts, Press, employees, partners, suppliers and internal & external stakeholders.

You will lead a team responsible for preparing executive briefings, content and messaging for internal and external audiences, as well as content for social media, blogs and online assets for the CEO Designate.

As part of CEO Designate Communications team, you will work closely with the Chief of Staff, the Strategic Communications organization, the Executive Leadership team, and key stakeholders across the business.

Role Priorities:

· Develop a communications strategy for the CEO Designate in alignment to the strategy.

· Support high-visibility strategic communications and presentations, both internally and externally, including events, Keynote presentations, customer facing presentations, industry conferences, investor meetings, press engagements, etc., by working closely with key partners to collaborate on messaging and deliverables.

· Manage a direct and virtual team of Communications professionals.

· Research and develop new, creative communications channels for internal and external messaging, while driving innovation.

· Research relevant statistics, data and compelling content for use in messaging development.

· Lead and evaluate all incoming speaking opportunities as part of the overall Communications strategy.

· Partner across the organization to ensure messaging alignment and consistency.

· Demonstrated and consistent excellence in communications with the ability to adjust in the moment to exceed the expectations of the leadership team, customers, stakeholders and employees.

Qualifications

An accomplished strategic communications professional, with 15+ years of experience in Communications, preferably having supported a CEO previously.

· Experienced in successfully managing creative and impactful messaging, with the ability to make even the most complex story relatable and easy to consume.

· Someone who is able to build relationships at all levels of the organization and outside of the organization, with the ability to manage and influence a direct and virtual teams.

· Have the ability to understand a strategy and drive the necessary communications to ensure its success.

· Experienced in advising and working directly with senior executives, are a strong collaborator and have the ability to partner globally.

· Someone who is curious, innovative and digital-savvy, with deep experience in message creation and storytelling.

· Someone who likes a challenge and is willing to give their point of view, whilst offering ideas and solutions.

· Excellent story teller with advanced writing skills.

· Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint.

· Understands the need for flexibility in this role, and be a strong team player.

· Able to build and develop cross functional partnerships.

· A talented and empathetic people manager and leader.

· A strong urge to learn and share your knowledge of the business.

· Willingness to take risks and think outside the box.

· You love working in a fast-paced environment, self-motivated and can thrive under pressure.

· Someone who has a sense of humor (critical).

· Some domestic and international travel will be required.

Compensation & Benefits Details

  • An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
  • The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California, Colorado, New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California, Colorado and New York.  This range may be modified in the future.
  • You will be eligible to participate in Western Digital’s Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan, which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance.  Depending on your role and your performance, you may be eligible to participate in our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents, pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program, and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan. RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
