This Product Designer will be responsible for designing intuitive and effective software applications at Western Digital’s Flash Division. This position requires an understanding of desktop and mobile environments across multiple operating systems and the ability to create aesthetically pleasing and functionally efficient designs. This role is perfect for a forward-thinking individual who thrives on innovation, enjoys working on diverse projects, and is passionate about creating user-centric designs that impact millions of users globally. As part of our recently established software product design team, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the foundation of our new software product from the ground up.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design user-centric software applications, focusing on usability, functionality, and aesthetics.  

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and other designers, to bring cohesive and visually appealing products to life.  

• Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that communicate design ideas and user flows effectively.  

• Ensure design consistency across various desktop operating systems.  

• Work closely with engineers to ensure the feasibility and successful implementation of designs.  

• Assist in user research and usability testing to guide design decisions and validate product concepts.  

• Continuously iterate and improve designs based on user feedback and data analysis.  

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of a comprehensive design system and product design documentation.  

• Stay informed about current trends and best practices in desktop app design.  

REQUIRED:

• Bachelor’s degree in design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.  

• 1-3 years of work experience in designing desktop applications. 

• A strong portfolio showcasing a variety of design projects and a deep understanding of the design process.  

SKILLS:

• Proficiency in relevant design tools like Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD.  

• Strong understanding of desktop operating systems and design guidelines.  

• Ability to translate complex business requirements into intuitive and user-friendly designs.  

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a user-centric approach to design.  

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate and present design concepts effectively.
