Job Description

We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our Flash Memory Product Solutions team at Western Digital®. This individual will be responsible for implementation of machine learning models for our product engineering and factory teams.

He/she will provide technical leadership and serve as technical mentor to our data scientists, data engineers, and machine learning experts located in India. Data Science Lead will work closely with design, engineering, factory, and software team to identify and execute on key predictive analytics projects to improve product yield, test cost and quality.

The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of machine learning principles, neural network, passion for applying analytic approaches in factory setting, a demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams in multiple geo-locations. Experience in semiconductor manufacturing highly desirable, but not required.

Qualifications

  • M.Tech, MS or PHD in Computer Science, Applied Math, Statistics and/or Engineering with an emphasis on Machine Learning, preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience leading and mentoring data science teams, ideally semiconductors or other high-tech manufacturing environment
  • Solid fundamentals, knowledge of machine learning algorithms, classification, clustering, regression, probability theory, algorithm design and theory of computation, linear algebra, partial differential equations, and information retrieval.

·       Demonstrate strong combination of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in data mining, feature selection, dimensionality reduction, statistical techniques, regression analysis, machine learning algorithms and failure prediction

  • Experience/proficiency in one or more programming language e.g. Python/R/Java/C++, MATLAB
  • Highly motivated, team player with an entrepreneurial spirit, strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in agile development methodology and best practices in data science lifecycle management.
