You will assist with the installation, maintenance, and operation of landfill gas and leachate systems, helping ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant site operations.

You don’t need to be a gas specialist already - full training will be provided. What matters most is a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to health and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair gas field works and leachate pipework
  • Assist with ongoing maintenance of landfill gas extraction systems, flares, and related equipment
  • Carry out basic gas and system monitoring and complete routine checks
  • Record data, complete inspections, and report faults or maintenance needs
  • Support safe operation of gas and leachate treatment equipment
  • Assist with general site maintenance and improvement works
  • Follow operational plans, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, and service quality
  • Maintain a professional standard of conduct and site presentation

Qualifications

About you

You’re practical, reliable, and enjoy hands-on work. You may come from a mechanical, industrial, civil, agricultural, or trade assistant background, and are keen to build new skills in gas field operations.

You will bring:

  • Basic mechanical or trade skills (mechanic, fitter, welder, plumber, or similar)
  • Confidence using hand tools and basic equipment
  • Willingness to learn gas field systems and monitoring equipment
  • Experience with pipe installation or plastic pipe welding (training will be provided)
  • Basic IT skills for recording data and completing reports
  • A strong focus on health, safety, and environmental responsibility
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver’s licence

Additional Information

What’s in it for you?

  • Full training provided in landfill gas and environmental systems
  • Stable, full-time employment with a well-established national company
  • Competitive pay and opportunities for skill development
  • A role that directly supports environmental protection and sustainability
  • Career growth opportunities within the waste and resource recovery industry

This is an opportunity to work in a critical operational role that directly supports environmental protection and sustainability outcomes. You’ll join a stable, well-established organisation offering competitive remuneration, ongoing training, and the chance to build a long-term career in the waste and resource recovery industry.
