Job Description
This challenging but rewarding position will report directly to the Chief Health, Safety, and Risk Officer (CHSRO). While this role reports directly to the CHSRO, the H&S Partner will have a strong reporting line to the Executive General Manager of the Circular Services Recycling (CSR) operation and his senior leadership team.
This H&S Partner will provide high level H&S support and guidance to across the sites that operator within the CSR divisional ensuring sites is operating and adhering to the national, and any local HSEQ system and managing risk to reduce any unwanted worker and business exposure. The position will also provide H&S KPI performance information at monthly divisional review meetings, and work with the division to achieve H&S excellence.
WM undertakes a variety of activities ranging from kerbside collections, recycling centres, refuse transfer stations, landfills (energy parks), commercial collections, organic waste collections, construction & demolition, and hazardous waste collections. No two days are the same and that’s what makes this industry exciting and interesting.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will need the following;
- A Tertiary Qualification (Degree or above) in H&S or Environmental
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an H&S advisory position
- Minimum 5 years’ working in the waste or other similar industry
- Legally allowed to work in New Zealand
- Excellent knowledge of relevant H&S, ACC, and Machine/Guarding legislation and standards
- Good understanding of Process Safety systems and processes
- Integrated Management System experience - ISO 9001, 14001, 45001
- Experienced in Management of Change procedures
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written), and engagement skills.
- Effective conceptual, analytical, and research skills.
- Excellent time management and self-management skills
