Job Description

Who will you be working with?
The Wabtec Mining Engineering team develops advanced electric drive propulsion systems for large mining trucks, helping customers improve productivity, efficiency, and sustainability through innovative technology.

 

How will you make a difference?
You will work with the electrical and controls engineering team to design, develop, validate, implement, and deliver control systems for electric drive mining vehicles. You’ll have the opportunity to interact directly with customers and cross functional teams during product definition, development, and fulfillment.

 

 

What do we want to know about you?

 

  • Degrees completed and in progress - this role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; advanced degrees preferred.
  • Engineering experience in the following areas:
  • Control systems, power electronics, motors, and alternators.
  • Electrical system design, circuit analysis, and troubleshooting.
  • Manufacturing, production, or operational support.
  • Control development, testing, and validation.
  • Analysis, modeling, and simulation using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or SPICE.

 

What will your typical day look like?

 

  • Support manufacturing and test operations by troubleshooting issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Design, analyze, and validate electrical control system hardware, software, & test stands.
  • Support new product introductions and enhancements.
  • Define control system requirements and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to implement.
  • Monitor project progress and communicate issues, risks, & solutions.
  • Support field investigations and travel periodically to suppliers, customer sites, and test locations.

 

What about the physical demands of the job?
This role includes work in manufacturing, laboratory, and field environments. Candidates must be able to:

 

  • Work safely in industrial environments to access, inspect, and troubleshoot control system components and assemblies.
  • Use electrical and diagnostic test equipment.
  • Climb stairs and ladders on large mining equipment.
  • Be able to interpret test equipment output, technical data, models, and simulations.

 

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside your primary responsibilities, with training provided as needed.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $79300-113000 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include annual bonus, if eligible.
