Job Description

Who will you be working with?

L&M Radiator, Inc. is a global designer, manufacturer, and distributor of MESABI cooling and heat transfer solutions that are custom-made for heavy equipment in the mining, oil, gas, construction and heavy industrial industries. We are looking for an individual to work on our Quality Assurance team at the TTC location in Duquesne, PA. The QA Coordinator will be instrumental in turning quality goals into tangible results, positioning the company as a trusted leader in the industry, and reinforcing our commitment to delivering the highest quality products and services to our customers. As the QA Coordinator, you will work with all departments to ensure quality deliverance and training standards.

This position supports the manufacturing organization by ensuring that products are produced in compliance with internal quality standards, customer specifications, and industry regulations. This role coordinates quality system activities, leads audits, resolves quality issues, and drives continuous improvement across production processes. The position serves as a key resource on the shop floor, supporting operators, supervisors, and cross‑functional teams to maintain consistent product quality and improve operational performance. This position directly reports to the Quality Assurance Manager at the Hibbing, MN facility.

What will your typical day look like?

Quality System & Compliance 

  • Monitor, maintain, and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO and customer requirements. 
  • Report and act on any QMS performance and improvement opportunities and relay to the Quality Assurance Manager. 
  • Support manufacturing teams by reinforcing quality standards, customer requirements, and safe work practices. 
  • Act as the primary interface with customers, suppliers, and auditors regarding quality concerns and QMS activities. 

Production Support & Issue Resolution

  • Investigate nonconformances, customer complaints, and production quality issues using root‑cause and corrective action methodologies. 
  • Review and disposition discrepant material in coordination with production and engineering teams. 
  • Assist with weld qualifications, procedure reviews, and production‑critical special processes and training.
  • Complete quality inspections/audits of incoming manufactured parts.
  • Participate in field service repairs as the Quality representative to ensure product integrity and compliance during service work. 

Audits & Document Control 

  • Plan and execute internal audits, compliance audits, and process audits throughout the plant. 
  • Prepare audit packets, conduct internal auditor training, and ensure findings are resolved promptly. 
  • Lead supplier audits, evaluate supplier performance, and follow up on corrective actions and Opportunities for Improvement (OFIs). 
  • Maintain accurate quality documentation including procedures, work instructions, forms, and records management systems. 

Program Leadership 

  • Promote safety throughout the plants.
  • Coordinate and perform annual external audits.
  • Manage Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP) and First Article Inspections (FAI), submissions for both customers and suppliers. 
  • Write and update Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Control Plans.
  • Chair any Special Process Committee and contribute to preventive action initiatives.
  • Organize and maintain Quality Alerts, Quality Trivia, and internal quality communication tools. 

Continuous Improvement 

  • Support Lean/5S activities and collaborate with Engineering and Production to improve processes, reduce defects, and optimize workflow. 
  • Assist with supervisor, team leader, and NEOT (New Employee Orientation Training) quality‑related training. 
  • Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing among quality personnel across all plants. 

Reporting 

  • Compile and distribute monthly  plant quality performance summaries. 
  • Track quality metrics, audit results, corrective actions, and improvement activities.

Other Duties 

  • Perform all work in accordance with safety procedures and plant guidelines. 
  • Promote safe work practices throughout the business.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required (including occasional weekends). 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Promote quality throughout Wabtec.
  • Perform duties of Quality Manager, Training Manager and CWI in their absences.

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Adaptable to production floor work and requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively and handle multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Domestic and International travel required and could include weekend travel depending on the project.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required for Entry Level:

  • Regular and Reliable Attendance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 
  • Ability to evaluate manufacturing processes, interpret technical information, and compare results against standards. 
  • Knowledge of quality tools such as corrective action, root‑cause analysis, control plans, and process audits. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced production environment with both shop floor and office personnel. 
  • Ability to promote a positive and proactive culture throughout Wabtec.
  • Reliable, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team. 
  • Ability to pass pre-employment physical, drug, and background test.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably metal fabrication, industrial equipment, or similar industries. 
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Epicor. 
  • Certification in Lean, 5S, or Six Sigma. 
  • Knowledge of ISO Certification.
  • Supervisory, team leadership experience, Certified Weld Inspector. 

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

This role is also eligible for a performance bonus.

The salary rate for this role is currently $68900-98200 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
