Job Description

Ownership and key responsibilities:

• Acquire, validate, reconcile, and prepare reliability and operational data from multiple internal and external sources.

• Develop and maintain deterministic and probabilistic models to evaluate component reliability and predict failure rates throughout contract lifecycles.

• Generate life forecasting analyses and provide recommendations to support contract profitability and maintenance planning.

• Partner with global teams to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of engineering and operational data.

• Design and implement numerical and analytical tools to improve reliability calculations and engineering productivity.

• Create dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to communicate reliability trends, risks, and performance indicators.

• Serve as hardware owner for assigned engine or locomotive components, maintaining technical expertise and ownership of reliability performance.

• Support internal customers by performing engineering calculations, reliability studies, and statistical analyses.

• Participate in technical reviews as a presenter, reviewer, and technical contributor.

• I dentify process gaps and improvement opportunities, leading digitization and automation initiatives where appropriate.

• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to less experienced team members.

 

Main Authorities and Missions:

 

• Serve as a key member of the Freight Services MSA Finance team, providing engineering expertise in material modeling, component reliability analysis, and life forecasting.

• Drive data-based decision making by developing and maintaining reliability models that support Annual Contract Margin Reviews and long-term business planning.

• Act as a subject matter expert for reliability engineering, statistical analysis, and durability assessment of locomotive and engine components.

• Influence cross-functional teams by providing technical recommendations and reliability insights to support operational, financial, and engineering objectives.

• Lead continuous improvement initiatives through process optimization, data visualization, automation, and digitization of engineering activities.

• Ensure engineering analyses, methods, and documentation comply with company standards, policies, and procedures.

• Support the development of engineering capability within the organization through mentoring, technical reviews, and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

What do we want to know about you?

· Master’s (Preferred) Degree in Mechanical or Production Engineering, Physics, Statistic, Data Scientist or similar.

· Demonstrated English language, written and verbal, communication skills.

· Minimum of 5 years of working in Service Operations.

· Overall knowledge about mechanical and energy systems.

· Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage large amounts of data.

· Knowledge of statistical tools, programming, and data analysis.

· Process-improvement mindset; digitizing processes and or redundant tasks.

· Team player with ability to influence others.

· Strong oral and written communication skills.

· PC proficiency (MS Office Suite, Teams, PowerPoint, etc…).

· Experience in probability and a statistical analysis

· Knowledge of diesel and rail technology

Desired

· Experience working with engine hardware and related subcomponents

· Understanding of Rail, Transportation & remote monitoring system

· Knowledge of and exposure to manufacturing and engineering processes

· Demonstrated commitment for innovation

· Six Sigma or equivalent training

· Willingness and ability to travel
