Job Description

Who will you be working with?

You will work closely with the Wayside Signaling Engineering team, Construction, Project Management, Office Engineering, and Telecommunications functions to support the successful delivery of railway signaling projects. This position requires frequent interaction with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment throughout the design, testing, commissioning, and assisted operation phases.

As a Signaling Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting the design, testing, commissioning, and assisted operation of railway signaling systems. You will contribute to the development and implementation of advanced train control technologies while ensuring system reliability, safety, and operational performance. This role requires strong technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and direct engagement with customers and suppliers to deliver high-quality solutions that support Wabtec's commitment to innovation and operational excellence. The position is based in Contagem, Minas Gerais, with significant travel requirements to support field activities and project execution.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience in the rail or metro rail industry.
  • Intermediate written and spoken English.
  • Experience working with signaling technologies from multiple suppliers is preferred.
  • Experience developing electrical engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Ladder Logic and Relay Logic programming.
  • Working knowledge of Python, Visual Basic, and VBA programming.
  • Basic knowledge of C and C++ programming languages.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuit simulation tools such as Multisim, PSIM, or LabVIEW.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software such as Solid Edge and AutoCAD.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Availability to travel approximately 50% of the time.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Execute testing and commissioning activities for railway signaling systems.
  • Interface directly with customers and provide technical support during project execution.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain project schedules.
  • Perform technical field visits and site assessments.
  • Support the development and integration of new train control systems and technologies.
  • Gather, analyze, and validate signaling engineering requirements.
  • Develop hardware designs for railway signaling applications.
  • Develop software solutions for railway signaling applications.
  • Create operational test procedures and testing documentation.
  • Perform interlocking testing in quality assurance environments.
  • Execute field testing of railway interlocking systems.
  • Commission and configure signaling systems for operational deployment.
  • Support assisted operation activities following system handover.
  • Diagnose operational failures through event logs and data analysis.
  • Prepare project status reports and technical failure analysis reports for customers and stakeholders.
  • Develop processes, tools, and applications that improve engineering efficiency and productivity.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Support hybrid work activities while maintaining Contagem, MG as the primary work location.
