Position Overview

The Senior HR Professional specializing in Industrial Relations HR Manager will play a crucial role in promoting effective labor relations and fostering community connections. This role will also be responsible for overseeing all human resources functions, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic objectives, and promoting a positive workplace culture. This includes recruitment, training, employee relations, benefits administration, and compliance with local labor laws. This role requires a dynamic leader with an in-depth understanding of HR functions, labor regulations, union experience and community engagement practices.

 

Key Responsibilities

Employee Relations

  • Develop and implement strategies that enhance industrial relations and workplace harmony.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for union representatives and manage collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Address and resolve industrial disputes promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations to minimize legal risks and uphold the company’s reputation.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate management and employees on labor relations best practices.

Community Engagement

  • Develop and execute community engagement strategies that align with the company’s mission and values.
  • Foster strong relationships with local organizations, community leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in community meetings and events to enhance its visibility and goodwill.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support corporate social responsibility initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on community engagement outcomes and suggest improvements.

 

General HR Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with HR team members to support overall HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Develop and revise local HR policies
  • Advise senior management on HR trends and issues related to industrial relations and community engagement.
  • Ensure company compliance with labor laws and regulations
  • Assist in the development of HR policies that promote an inclusive and harmonious workplace environment.
  • Provide HR support in performance management and employee development.
  • Assist with payroll inputs, employee benefits, and wellness initiatives.

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant professional certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in human resources, with a focus on industrial relations and community engagement.
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, collective bargaining processes, and community development practices.

Desired Characteristics

  • Bilingual must be proficient in both French and English. Mandrin would be an advantage
  • Experience in Rail industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a proven ability to build relationships across diverse groups.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and manage complex projects.
