Who will you be working with?
We are Aero Transportation Products (ATP), a business organization, part of the larger Wabtec Corporation. Established in 1979 and purchased by Wabtec in 2017, our organization has supported the Agriculture and Industrial arena as an innovator in the rail industry over 45 years. We have designed and built products that both feed and house everyone in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and are working on new products for applications outside North America.
This position is located in Independence, MO. ATP has two sites: located in Independence, MO and in McPherson, KS. Our Independence site is based in an underground industrial complex customized for Fiberglass production. The McPherson site is a metal fabrication and weld shop, in the picturesque setting of America's Heartland. The ATP team is comprised of a diverse group from varying backgrounds, all motivated by an enjoyable and positive work culture. ATP team members primarily support the production of fiberglass and aluminum hatch covers, and mild-steel and stainless-steel outlet gates for Wabtec’s Freight Components division.
How will you make a difference?
The Commodity and Master Scheduler is a material manager position that ensures material availability and production readiness to prevent downtime and reduce customer delivery risk, while driving out cost and working capital improvements through disciplined strategic sourcing and inventory optimization. This role aligns demand, capacity, and supply across both ATP sites to enable predictable execution, strengthens supplier performance, resilience, and compliance within a complex manufacturing environment, and provides leadership with clear planning signals supported by data-driven insights.
What do we want to know about you?
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in supply chain, sourcing, materials management, production planning, or master scheduling within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory control
- Proven ability to manage suppliers, material flow, and production schedules in a complex operation
- Understand cost structures relating to components, labor, overhead, and finished goods
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Preferred
- Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations
- Background in heavy manufacturing, transportation, rail, or engineered products
- Experience leading SIOP / PSI or integrated planning processes
- Advanced Excel and data analysis capability; familiarity with Oracle or similar ERP platforms
- Multi-tasking of various projects and daily functions

What will your typical day look like?
- Develop, deploy, and execute commodity sourcing strategies aligned to ATP cost, quality, delivery, and risk objectives
- Lead supplier identification, evaluation, onboarding, and ongoing performance management
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, commercial terms, and cost-reduction initiatives with suppliers
- Build and execute a cost-out project pipeline, tracking savings and delivery commitments
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to support new product introductions, design changes, and supplier transitions
- Ensure compliance with sourcing policies, ethical standards, and applicable regulations
- Maintain accurate vendor, contract, and pricing data within ERP systems
- Develop and maintain demand forecasts and master production schedules across ATP sites
- Translate sales forecasts and customer orders into executable production plans
- Align material plans with production schedules to ensure end-to-end flow
- Lead or support SIOP / PSI processes to balance demand, supply, and inventory
- Identify capacity constraints in labor, equipment, materials, and suppliers, and develop mitigation plans
- Adjust schedules for disruptions such as supplier delays, equipment downtime, or demand changes
- Ensure BOM accuracy, lead-time integrity, and MRP discipline
- Serve as a central connector between Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, Engineering, and Finance
- Provide clear communication on risks, priorities, and recovery plans
- Develop dashboards and metrics for cost, delivery, inventory, and supplier performance
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in planning, sourcing, and material flow
- Support standard work, process maturity, and scalable systems as ATP grows
- Other duties as assigned by the General Manager according to business needs.

- The office is located in a manufacturing facility which is in an enclosed, underground industrial complex with climate control.
- Work is primarily performed in an office-based environment with frequent use of a computer and other standard office equipment.
- Office employees will occasionally need to visit the plant floor, with exposure to fiberglass, resins, and other chemicals.
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

The salary rate for this role is currently $91100-129800 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
