Job Description

Who will you be working with?

The Friction Product Line designs and manufactures high-friction and low-friction composition, sintered brake shoes, specialty shoes, and disc brake linings for freight, locomotive and transit vehicles. 

How will you make a difference?

The Sourcing Specialist leads the procurement of key goods and services required for operations. Develops and supports initiatives for cost, inventory reductions and improvement of supplier performance. Collaborates with commodity teams to support combining of spend to affect cost savings. Partners with suppliers to obtain parts, supplies and/or equipment per design specification at the best value, within schedule and quality requirements.

What do we want to know about you?

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field from an accredited university preferred  
  • Two years of Purchasing/Procurement experience is preferred
  • Five (5) years relevant manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Oracle experience is preferred
  • Skilled in change management methodologies

What will your typical day look like?

  • Proactive, motivated, collaborative team member as well as independent minded individual requiring little direction from Management
  • Pursue and leverage strategic Supplier Partnerships that produce results in increased efficiencies and cost reductions
  • Take personal ownership for supplier selection, quality, performance, and development
  • Identify and develop solutions to opportunities, inside or outside assigned commodity group, which can be streamlined or made more efficient
  • Analyze, develop and implement strategy for assigned spend
  • Responsible for assigned direct and indirect spend
  • Identify foreign and domestic suppliers aligned to Company’s needs for strategic growth
  • Negotiate pricing with suppliers as needed
  • Develop and lead the implementation of effective purchasing processes, procedures, policies and controls
  • Monitor & offer improvements to Company’s ERP and web-based purchasing architecture
  • Structure highly effective contracts in concert with global Company’s supply management teams
  • Works proactively with global purchasing partners to develop strategies and solutions that will not only benefit the local organization but any or all of company operations
  • Analyze supply market conditions, assisting immediate & senior management teams in developing organizational and market strategies for growth
  • Prepares purchase orders and bid requests using eProcurement tools
  • Effectively partner with various departments across the organization to assess spend and develop/implement sourcing strategy
  • Regular on-site attendance is required
  • Other duties as assigned by supervision

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $68900-98200 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com. Other benefit offerings for this role may include annual bonus, if eligible.
