Job Description
We’re seeking a Project Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is central to the design, coordination, and execution of infrastructure projects across all utility services. If you’re passionate about sustainable engineering, multi-utility systems, and community impact, this is the opportunity for you.
What You’ll Do:
Lead engineering design and project planning across Electric, Telecom, Water, and Wastewater utilities.
Oversee project execution including materials, timelines, budgeting, compliance, and construction coordination.
Ensure engineering solutions align with internal standards and external regulations (RUS, NESC, IEEE, AWWA, IDEM, EPA, etc.).
Manage documentation, GIS mapping, and quality control for infrastructure projects.
Support cross-functional teams and coordinate with vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
Participate in the design of Water and Wastewater systems, fiber optics, substations, lift stations, and Smart Grid deployments.
Keep up with emerging industry trends, technologies, and compliance requirements.
Qualifications
Required Knowledge & Experience
Utility engineering experience (Electric, Telecom, Water, and Wastewater preferred).
Strong working knowledge of regulatory codes: NESC, RUS, IEEE, AWWA, EPA, IDEM, etc.
Proficiency in project management, engineering documentation, GIS mapping, and AutoCAD.
Experience in staking/design practices, permitting processes, and multi-utility construction.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Engineering degree strongly preferred.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in utility design, engineering, or construction management (experience in multiple utility types highly preferred).
Project Management certification preferred.
Skills & Abilities
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Excellent organizational and documentation practices.
Proficient in reading schematics, staking sheets, and technical plans.
Comfortable managing multiple projects and adapting to evolving priorities.
