Job Description
We’re seeking an Underground Utility Locator to join our team. This position involves locating underground power and fiber lines, ensuring the safety of our infrastructure, and collaborating with customers and other utility locators. If you’re detail-oriented, skilled with mapping, and passionate about providing excellent service, this role is for you!
Key Responsibilities
- Use underground locating equipment to mark power and fiber lines.
- Interpret maps and record changes for future reference.
- Plan daily routes to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Maintain communication with the locating team and follow Indiana Underground Plant Protection Service (IUPPS) guidelines.
- Interact with customers to clarify specific locating instructions.
Additional Duties
- Maintain vehicles and equipment, including software updates.
- Investigate mistakes or damages as needed.
- May potentially serve as on-call locator for the department.
- Locate underground faults when required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience locating underground power lines.
- Positive customer service experience.
- Knowledge of IUPPS rules and regulations.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and fiber optic communication.
- Valid driver’s license (CDL may be required in the future).

- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds and navigate uneven terrain.
- Frequent driving throughout the service territory.
