Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE
To develop the skills and knowledge of the beneficial use of electricity and understand how to effectively communicate and educate the membership on the efficient use of electrical appliances and HVAC systems. Receive instruction how to install and maintain the demand response program. Complete program of progressive training to become Energy Auditor certified through BPI (Building Performance Institute) and serve as Carroll White REMC Energy Advisor II.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reports ready for work each day at the appointed time; if unable to do so, notify the Energy Solutions Coordinator or the Communications and Public Relations Manager prior to regular reporting time.
First Year/Step 1: Under the supervision of the Energy Solutions Coordinator;
- Learns about the demand response program and the importance of how this program helps the members, the Cooperative, and the electrical grid. Trains on proper and safe installation of demand response switch (DRU).
- Works in the deployment of the demand response program, installs new devices, and troubleshoots devices installed on water heaters and HVAC equipment.
- Trains to gain knowledge and techniques on how to effectively assist members with questions and concerns regarding electric heating and air conditioning and home appliances.
- Assist on site visits at homes with high-usage complaints or need of energy usage saving advice, and conducts walk-through energy audits, learning to use auditing software, as appropriate. Follows up with communication and literature, as appropriate.
- Complete courses to learn building science principles and how it applies to existing, retro, and new construction buildings.
- Embraces the REMC policy of Development, Performance and Recognition (DPR).
- Continually seeks to enhance skills to align with the ever-changing technology, goals, and opportunities of the REMC.
- Expects that management will routinely provide feedback on performance
Second Year/Step 2: Under the supervision of the Energy Solutions Coordinator;
- Attends and completes all training, events, study courses and instruction required to prepare for future Energy Advisor II position.
- Learns all the cooperative’s various energy services programs such as PowerMoves, Looped IN, Partnership for Efficiency and how to provide consumers with correct information, make recommendations, provide follow-ups, and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Understands cooperatives system to maintain complete and accurate records for activities associated with this position.
- Learns to proficiently use energy auditing measuring tools like blower door, infrared camera, combustion analyzer, etc. to collect data needed to offer professional energy saving and safety advice to member.
- Build network skills to advise and assist local builders, contractors, and developers with the selection of accurately sized, energy-efficient appliances for their construction projects.
- Utilize learned skills with members building new homes on the selection of energy-efficient appliances.
- Complete course and study to pass needed testing to become a certified BPI Energy Auditor.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an equivalent of the following education and/or experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience preferred.

- Proficient with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office products related to this position and applicable processing programs utilized by the REMC.
- Must be able to fully utilize an iPad and Apps supplied by the REMC.
- Must be able to deal discreetly with confidential information.
- Ability to apply craft techniques, processes and principles associated with this position.
- Must participate in and be certified in annual CPR & Periodic First Aid Training.
- Must possess a Valid Indiana Driver’s License

- Exposure to varying temperature conditions including cold below 0 degrees and heat above 100 degrees.
- Minimal exposure to fumes, odors, gases, chemicals, poor ventilation, dust, and dirt. Hazards include electrical.
- Must be physically able to perform the job.
