Morrisons Distribution Centre Stockton are looking for
a General Assistant to join our team. We are responsible for providing hot and cold food for colleagues on a daily basis we operate over seven days
We are currently recruiting for the following:
Dayshift - Maternity cover for approx 14 months
Extra shifts will be available for the right person to cover annual leave and peaks in trade
Rotas are issued three weeks in advance
As a Canteen Assistant you will benefit from the following:

Job Description
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Canteen Assistant to join our team in Stockton-on-Tees, United Kingdom. As a Canteen Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing excellent food service and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment for our customers.
- Assist in food preparation, including basic cooking tasks and assembling meals
- Serve food and beverages to customers in a prompt and courteous manner
- Operate the till and handle cash transactions accurately
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and dining areas
- Restock food items, condiments, and utensils as needed
- Assist with inventory management and stock rotation
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during peak hours
- Respond to customer enquiries and address any concerns in a friendly manner
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
- Assist with setting up and clearing dining areas before and after service
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service skills with a friendly and supportive attitude
- Knowledge of food handling and safety practices
- Basic cooking skills and ability to learn new food preparation techniques
- Proficiency in cash handling and operating a till
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
- Previous experience in food service or catering is preferred
- Food hygiene certificate is desirable
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays as required
