We have an exciting opportunity for a Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) Management Systems Lead to join our HSSE team. Reporting to the Senior Management Systems Lead and based at our head office in Docklands, you will play a key role in leading and enabling the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of our national HSSE Management System and associated critical HSSE systems.

In this role, you will ensure HSSE management systems remain fit for purpose, legislatively compliant and aligned with business and operational needs. You will also contribute to assurance activities and the delivery of safety initiatives that support sustained improvement in HSSE performance across the organisation.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

As the HSSE Management Systems Lead, you will:

  • Integrate HSSE management system documentation and processes into a consistent, enterprise‑wide framework that aligns with applicable local legislative requirements.
  • Lead the annual HSSE Management System review process.
  • Review and enhance HSSE management systems based on internal and external inputs such as learnings from incidents, investigations, audits, risk assessment reviews, and changes to legislation or standards.
  • Provide risk‑based advice to leadership on HSSE management system priorities and improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure alignment between Major Hazard Facility (MHF) Safety Cases and the HSSE Management System, meeting all relevant regulatory obligations.
  • Lead and participate in HSSE audits and incident investigations, and develop and communicate outcomes through newsletters, LFIs and other communications.
  • Oversee HSSE document control and company HSSE induction management processes.
  • Manage the HSSE Contractor Management Accreditation System (CMAS) nationally, including oversight of third‑party accreditation providers and contractor verification programs.
  • Manage relationships with external suppliers, including HSSE training providers and specialist information services, and coordinate responses to legislative change.
  • Support commercial tender activities by managing HSSE inputs and requirements.

Qualifications

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline, or equivalent experience supported by operational HSSE experience.
  • Proven experience developing, implementing and maintaining HSE/HSSE management systems.
  • Strong understanding of risk‑based HSSE management principles.
  • Auditing experience, including formal audit training or practical experience participating in HSSE audits (externally recognised training desirable).
  • Experience with Major Hazard Facility (MHF) requirements as well as exposure to third party contractor assurance services such as ISNetworld are advantageous.
  • Detailed knowledge of Australian Work Health & Safety legislation, relevant regulations and Codes of Practice.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, lead and collaborate effectively.
  • The confidence and courage to challenge the status quo and intervene when required.
  • Ability to work independently, applying sound judgement, objectivity and analytical thinking.
  • A proactive, organised and adaptable work style.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage credibly with senior leaders.
