Job Description
Visa aims to position itself as a global leader in AI-driven innovation by leveraging Generative AI to transform Corporate IT into a strategic engine for growth. The Senior Director, GenAI will define and execute an enterprise-wide AI roadmap, ensuring ethical, secure, and compliant adoption while modernizing IT infrastructure through AI-powered automation and predictive analytics. By harnessing Visa’s vast transaction data for real-time intelligence and deploying synthetic data for secure testing, this role will unlock new insights and accelerate innovation. Additionally, AI-driven tools will enhance employee productivity and customer experiences through virtual assistants, multilingual chatbots, and personalized services. These initiatives will deliver measurable outcomes, including reduced operational costs, faster product launches, improved risk management, and a stronger competitive edge.
Essential Functions:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the corporate Gen AI roadmap aligned with business goals.
- Identify high-impact use cases across internal Visa enterprise clients (e.g., Corporate IT, Finance, People, Legal).
- Establish governance frameworks for ethical and responsible AI deployment.
- Act as a force multiplier and magnify the organization’s ability to deliver value at scale.
Technology Development
- Oversee the design, development, and deployment of GenAI models and platforms.
- Drive integration of AI solutions into existing enterprise systems and workflows.
- Ensure scalability, security, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Evaluate and implement AI ethics and bias mitigation strategies.
Innovation & Research
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in AI, machine learning, and large language models.
- Foster partnerships with Visa's internal AI research teams, industry leaders, and technology vendors.
- Promote a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement in the realm of Corporate IT.
Team Leadership
- Build and manage a high-performing team and multidisciplinary team of software development engineers, data engineers, product managers, and technical program managers.
- Mentor and develop talent to support long-term organizational AI capabilities.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align AI initiatives with Visa's 2030 strategy and the Corporate IT roadmap.
- Communicate complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
- Drive change management and adoption of Corporate Gen AI tools across the organization.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 12+ years of relevant work experience and a Bachelors degree, OR 15+ years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or related field.
- Expertise in building and deploying LLMs, NLP, and advanced ML techniques.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) and MLOps.
- Exceptional strategic thinking, communication, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver consistent results while fostering healthy, sustainable team cultures
- Exceptional talent for developing teams and technical bench through structured coaching, feedback, and accountability
- Proven track record of enterprise-scale IT transformation projects.
- Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of data engineering, API integration, and enterprise architecture.
- Self-motivated with the ability to exercise independent judgment with minimal direction.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to adapt quickly to changing enterprise priorities.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 206,100.00 to 322,150.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
