Job Description
The Senior Manager of Strategic Risk Initiatives will play a crucial role in driving innovative risk initiatives and global risk remediation programs for Visa’s Commercial and Money Movement Solutions organization. This role will drive business enablement through data insights and risk analytics, strategic roadmaps, and licensing and regulatory initiatives related to acquisitions and expansions. The role requires practical and strategic understanding of the payments industry and demonstrated experience assessing risks associated with business strategies. Must work collaboratively with cross functional and geographically diverse teams.
Candidate will be responsible for:
- Driving global risk remediation and change management efforts to support Visa’s Commercial and Money Movement Solutions organization
- Overseeing licensing initiatives and regulatory/compliance obligations related to acquisitions and expansions supporting readiness for new business initiatives and market expansions
- Managing strategic risk initiatives that support project remediation efforts, adherence to regulatory requirements, and monitoring of risk trends with data insights and analytics
- Conducting deep dives on risk domains, breaking down complexity, and influencing oversight and governance as appropriate
- Innovating issue management capabilities to drive sustainable solutions and prevent recurrence
- Leading numerous change management efforts related to new business initiatives, remediation efforts, and innovation by automating and standardizing core processes to enhance efficiency and influence decision-making with speed and sound governance
The successful candidate must have:
- Proven experience in assessing risks across an enterprise, including operational, technology and regulatory risks
- A clear understanding of the Three Lines of Defense model and its application across financial and technology firms
- Understanding of the payments industry, including the regulatory environment, associated products/services and the broader competitive landscape
- Sufficient technical expertise to effectively challenge and influence functions as needed (Sales Operations, Compliance, Client Services, Technology, etc)
- Collaborative personality, with experience managing deliverables across global and regional teams
- Demonstrable experience in overseeing risk within strategic initiatives and change programs
- Proven analytical, process and problem solving skills, ability to be both strategic and tactical
- Ability to accomplish results and exercise influence in a large, global, matrix organization
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
- 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
- An understanding of the payments industry and/or financial services, payment products and services, and of wider economic / competitive landscape
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, communication, and facilitation skills, plus ability to work independently and effectively in a continually changing environment
- Proven ability to develop strong relationships and work with all organizational levels
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint
- Preferred:
- Knowledge of rules, regulations and laws applicable to the payments industry
- Deep domain expertise in change management, strategic planning, and process improvement
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 120,900 to 206,350 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
