Job Description
Global Supervisory Management (GSM) is a Global Risk group that is responsible for managing the regulatory oversight across Visa. This role involves the relationship management with Visa’s primary regulator, the Federal Banking Agencies (FBA) which brings together The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), and the Federal Reserve Bank (FRB) of San Francisco. In addition, the VP GSM provides support to regional risk and business teams in their engagement on supervisory matters with regional and local Regulators across various countries & markets. The VP GSM oversees regulatory examinations of Visa, ensures exams are well coordinated and provides expertise to drive towards successful business preparedness and overall exam outcomes. The VP GSM monitors and reports on global supervisory trends and takes a leadership role in deploying pro-active action plans and initiatives that drive Visa’s continued preparedness on meeting evolving regulatory requirements and expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the overall relationship with the Federal Banking Agencies (FBA or FFIEC)
- Manage and oversee all aspects of regulatory exams, reviews, and continuous monitoring activities.
- Ensure that all Visa internal information is effectively and efficiently relayed to primary regulatory bodies, as appropriate to address exams, requests for information and ongoing reporting.
- Maintain rigorous processes and controls to ensure regulatory reporting meets applicable quality standards.
- Provide guidance to business teams on driving necessary processes and controls to meet regulatory requirements and expectations.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of relevant regulations, especially those applicable to Visa and Visa’s clients (as relevant to the services Visa provides to its clients)
- Consider global trends in regulatory expectations and requirements and drive pro-active actions and initiatives to maintain Visa’s readiness.
- Exercise a high degree of judgment to review, address, and resolve complex issues with internal stakeholders, in response to supervisory matters.
- Work with senior leaders and all levels of the organization to build trust and credibility through strong interpersonal skills, clear communication, and consistent actions.
- Oversee a global team of risk professionals that handle supervisory engagement in various countries/regions. Build capabilities to ensure consistent, high-quality results in our engagement with global regulators.
- Monitor and report to leadership and Visa’s risk governance on evolving regulatory trends and expectations
- Working with Operational Resilience, maintain procedures to ensure Incident Notification processes are designed to meet applicable regulatory requirements.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 10 years of experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 8 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred qualifications:
• 15 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, PhD)
• Deep domain expertise across one or more of the following domains: knowledge of Visa’s operations or operations of a global payment network, knowledge of regulatory requirements and frameworks as applicable to Visa (or Financial Institutions), hands-on experience in handling interaction with FBA or other regulators, including management of exams
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills. Demonstrated track record of building trust and credibility with internal/external stakeholders
• Executive presence. Ability to handle broader, strategic regulatory and supervisory matters in an effective manner.
• Demonstrated expertise in deploying effective, large-scale governance / supervisory management programs
• System thinker with proven ability to connect the dots and design solutions that require deployment and/or buy-in across a larger group of stakeholders
• Effective leader with track record of growing global risk talent and developing operational risk management skills across 1st line functions
• Self-starter who can communicate with a deep understanding of the company needs and enable people to move forward through complexity
• Strong experience driving risk programs, projects and collaborating in large, matrixed organizations
• Experience establishing and leading global teams
• Experience with Executive Reporting, with the ability to deliver insights on complex regulatory matters
• A clear record of strategic thinking, sound judgment and superior problem solving
• Flexible and creative thinker with strong execution skills, generate out-of-the-box solutions, manage ambiguity, anticipate the impact of decisions/initiatives and able to move seamlessly from high level concepts to details
• Proven project management skills and experience
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 218,100.00 to 340,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
