Job Description
Visa Inc is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as a Staff SW Release Engineer. As a member of the Release Engineering team, the Staff SW Release Engineer will be ensuring availability of CI/CD systems and automation tooling across PPT for various type of binaries including VMs & containers. The team maintains the build/deploy systems and owns related processes to ensure high quality of delivery standards for a large landscape of digital payment applications.
The Staff SW Release Engineer will handle the daily responsibilities of supporting the release/DevOps needs of Application development teams. These tasks include configuration identification, change management, build, deploy and release artifact management, version control, and source code auditing/reporting, environment support and troubleshooting.
The Staff SW Release Engineer will have working relationships with multiple teams, providing assistance through the development cycle for any required changes to the build/release/deploy processes required to get a product certified into integration environments through the release into production environments.
Cross-functional team collaboration and effective communications skills are essential.
Essential Functions:
Key responsibilities include:
• Build & Support Container CI/CD pipeline for build, deploy and release requirements.
• Assist in scheduling and implementing changes to the build / release / version-control processes required to enforce and apply release engineering best practices
• Provide guidance to cross-team and team members in release best practices and procedures
• Support all pre-production, integration environments for middleware services and applications
• Work with cross functional, geographically distributed teams to provide 24X7 support across multiple non-production environments.
• Responsible for continuous delivery pipeline for build & deployment for containers.
• Responsible for working with Security, Operations, Development, testing team and other teams to understand changes to the existing production environment on an ongoing basis and for non-prod environment support.
• Preserve and maintain service availability, performance, integrity, capacity and security.
• Maintain and suggest improvements to deployment scripts and tooling
• Participate in the decision making of success or failure of applications systems to be deployed in production
• Update documentation that communicates standards and best practices.
• Implement metrics, monitoring & Key Performance Indicators.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science, Information Systems or related field AND minimum three (3) years of experience in a directly related field. OR
• Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science, Information Systems or related field AND minimum five (5) years of experience in a directly related field. OR
• Minimum eight (8) years of directly related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 9 + years of Industry experience with 4+ years of experience in DevOps, CI/CD , Release with automation Experience.
• Solid Experience or certification with Containers technologies, Kubernetes, Docker EE & OpenShift to build/enhance seamless CI/CD pipeline.
• Build and troubleshoot build issues in Java applications.
• DevOps Acumen to build better solutions to bring operation excellence in Build/deploy pipelines for VM and Containers.
• Linux, Unix and Shell Scripting, and Automation
• Experience with one scripting or programming language (Python, bash)
• Advance knowledge and experience with Linux and UNIX,
• Experience with monitoring tools SPLUNK, or any other monitoring tools/processes.
• Strong Experience with RDBMS Database technology like Oracle, MySQL, Liquibase.
• Experience with SCM tools -GIT (Bitbucket) and Artifactory
• CI tool management - Jenkins, both in setup and support is required.
• Experience with Project Management tools (Jira)
• Demonstrated ability to work with distributed teams.
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 119,100.00 to 154,800.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
