Job Description

As a Staff Software Engineer for Learning Enablement Technology (LET) within Corporate IT, you'll be part of a global team, with ownership over the entire development lifecycle and support for a broad portfolio of custom-built applications and multiple SaaS vendors.

LET provides technology ownership for Visa Consulting and Analytics applications including Visa University (our flagship learning solution for financial industry professionals offering classes and certifications), Minerva (an Issuer Benchmark Study service, crucial for providing in-depth performance and profitability analysis for credit card issuers), and VCA Knowledge Xchange (a key tool for facilitating knowledge exchange and learning for Visa consultants).

Your contributions will be vital in shaping the future of these platforms, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of our users and maintain Visa's position as a leader in the industry. Your responsibilities will span over the entire portfolio (with a focus on VCA KX) and include architecture, design, technology ownership, security and infrastructure management, software development, and support. You will also manage relationships with vendors, consultants, business stakeholders, and technology partners.

 

This is a very hands-on individual contributor role in Bangalore, India. Our team has a startup approach, and we partner with various internal teams to produce outstanding benchmarks and deliver actionable client improvement opportunities. Responsibilities:

  • As Staff SW Engineer for the VCA suite of apps VU, Minerva, and KX, you will develop, integrate, and support enduring, scalable, and secure solutions that deliver a delightful user experience, are resilient, and further learning.

  • Involved in vendor analysis and coordination, proposing new payments solutions to meet future needs while staying informed about the industry.

  • Own ATC, security, and infrastructure coordination, assisting in closing out items, and ensuring alignment to the SDLC governance framework.

  • Develop new features for VCA .NET applications and improve other SaaS applications supporting industry benchmarking.

  • Engage with product managers, design team, and multi-functional technology groups to ensure the right solutions are available and accessible to our users.

  • Design and own integrations for SaaS and hosted applications, crafting development/support artefacts, and participating in code-reviews.

  • Uphold the highest level of Engineering and Operational Excellence, aligning with Corporate Reliability Engineering (CRE) principles.

  • Serve as a release manager and provide on-call support for high priority incidents, while working with limited direction in a sophisticated and fast-paced environment to drive solution delivery and meet service levels.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • Web application development experience in C# .Net/ Core.
  • Hands-on experience in software design, development, and deployment for highly available and highly resilient enterprise solutions.
  • Full stack experience highly preferred!
  • Passionate about clean code, clean architecture, code quality, software design principles, code governance, handling technical debt, Operations excellence principles.
  • Hands-on experience with modern web UI frameworks, .NET core, SQL and NoSQL databases, and other modern open-source platforms and technologies.
  • Experience in C#, .NET Framework / Core, MS SQL, JavaScript, HTML/ CSS/ XML, Angular, APIs/ Web Services, Windows/ IIS, Azure, GIT
  • Comprehension of release management using CI/CD pipeline.
  • Strong understanding of agile software development.
  • High sense of ownership in everything you do.

  • Skilled communicator at different levels and for various audiences
