Job Description
Team Summary
The Asia Pacific (AP) Pricing Strategy team at Visa is responsible for developing pricing strategies for the AP region that support the growth of the digital payment industry ecosystem to the benefit of consumers, merchants, and all ecosystem participants and in turn, Visa Inc.
A highly strategic team, it works in close collaboration with all functions and markets in AP as well as globally to develop and evaluate strategies that balances a range of variables, including but not limited to market contexts, competitive dynamics, regulation, innovation, and new payment use cases.
What a Pricing Director does at Visa:
The Pricing Director will lead key projects related to Visa Inc.’s pricing strategy and/or broader corporate initiatives, including collaborating with business lines across Visa’s Asia Pacific region and functional areas. Specific projects will vary depending on in stakeholder, business or strategic requirements, depth, and will range from broad coordination efforts across multiple markets and/or functional areas to focused special assignments for senior management that are of high strategic importance to Visa Inc.
The position requires the ability to lead complex projects end-to-end, drive engagement with key stakeholders across the business, apply strong analytical and critical thinking skills to address business opportunities and problems that drive corporate priorities. The Pricing Director will report to the Head of AP Pricing and is based at Visa's offices in Singapore.
In this role, you are expected to:
Actively contribute to the formulation of the overall pricing strategy for Asia Pacific at market, function, and product level and develop executive level recommendations in a clear, concise, and impactful way.
Lead end-to-end initiatives related to Visa pricing strategy, business development, or related corporate initiatives to deliver positive outcomes for Visa, its clients, merchants, and consumers.
Create clear strategic priorities for the business and align resources accordingly.
Become a pricing subject matter expert with deep knowledge of both Visa and industry context that enables development of strategic plans that drives innovation and growth across the digital ecosystem.
Develop quantitative and qualitative analyses to derive the financial impact of new pricing opportunities utilizing client and market data on a country and regional basis.
Actively collaborate across a matrix of functions and markets in the AP region and globally to support the development and execution of pricing strategies.
Be accountable and responsible for your own book of work as well as proactively and collaboratively support that of others.
Embrace change and actively pursue ways in which to enables cross-functional teams to achieve stated goals in new and innovative ways.
Actively support team growth by continuously establishing and building best practices and processes.
Act as a thought leader and actively champion and drive the adoption of Visa’s Leadership Principles in everything we do.
What will also help:
Deeper understanding of the payment network business model and broader payment ecosystem.
Preferably 5+ years of work experience in the areas of pricing management, business planning or (sales) finance, previous payments industry exposure considered as a big plus.
Experience with business intelligence / data visualization tools, e.g., Tableau dashboards.
Qualifications
We are looking for an individual with a structured mindset, curiosity about the payments industry, is results-driven, and client focused. As an ideal candidate, you should have:
- Bachelor’s Degree, Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/PhD) or equivalent qualification.
- 12+ of work experience preferably in the payments industry, financial services, or consulting.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, innovative and creative mindset. Able to resolve complex business problems with well-structured analysis.
- Strong analytical and quantitative ability with proven expertise in modeling techniques and managing large data sets using Excel. Ability to communicate complex analysis in a strategic manner using Power Point and other presentation tools.
- Ability to absorb technical information and apply to business solutions where little or no precedence exists. Be able to communicate complex, technical concepts in a focused and well-organized manner.
- Self-starter attitude with willingness to take on new challenges in a fast-paced environment and be flexible with multi-tasking and changing priorities. Ability to work in the “grey area” where answers may not be known but need to be developed.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to details and interpersonal skills in negotiating and influencing internal and external stakeholders.
- Organized, result oriented, and has a passion for scaling new products.
- A natural appetite and drive for continuous enhancements and process improvement. Ability and hunger for proactively identifying opportunities and recommendations to increase quality and/or efficiency.
- Team collaboration demonstrated by desire and willingness to share knowledge with a broader team, be receptive to new ideas and changes to the standard operational procedures.
