Job Description

At Visa, the Risk and Identity Solutions (RaIS) team operates as a vital component of the Value-Added Services (VAS) Product Development division. We're known for our suite of high-visibility, high-volume, revenue-earning applications that provide solutions in Risk & Fraud Management, Identity & Authentication space. As a Senior Technical Product Manager (TPM), you will collaborate with product teams to transform business requirements into technical specifications. The TPM's specific responsibilities encompass delineating functional, non-functional, and technical prerequisites, steering the product portfolio through the planning and delivery process, and promoting products and features both within and outside the organization. You will play a pivotal role in solution architecture design and API specification, ensuring our solutions are extensible and scalable to meet our clients' needs.

The TPM helps oversee the product lifecycle, completing milestones such as idea generation, technical requirements, developer collaboration, usability testing, demonstrations, acceptance criteria verification, stakeholder feedback, and delivery. TPMs need to stay abreast of technological advancements to optimize product development.

We are seeking a Sr Technical Product Manager who is a is a thought leader with exceptional organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, with a strong technical background to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to medium to large cross-functional projects, demonstrating the ability to engage in high bandwidth conversations with both business and technology executives. Transform business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Forge strong partnerships with business sponsors, product managers, architects, and developers to drive conceptual design solutions and API specification, ensuring our solutions are extensible and scalable to meet our clients' needs.
  • Partner with the cross-functional leadership team to define the product roadmap priorities. Review and contribute to refining the product backlog. This includes breaking down Features into smaller, manageable work efforts, ensuring that they are clearly defined and ready for development.
  • Foster innovation, collaboration, leverage new technologies, and champion impactful change to build Visa's technology brand. 
  • Address bottlenecks, provide escalation management, balance business needs versus technical constraints to maximize business benefit.
  • Beyond the design and planning stages of the development lifecycle, strong Agile expertise is required to collaborate with Scrum teams and communicate requirements to development teams for execution and implementation.
  • Decompose the features into actionable plan for the development teams
  • Demonstrate strong Agile expertise. Groom and maintain Sprint backlog creation and maintenance - stories, defects and bugs as appropriate.
  • Prepare Ready-to-Start Stories: before a sprint begins, ensure that all user stories are ready to start. This means they are fully defined, have clear acceptance criteria, and all dependencies are resolved.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of industry experience within a technology environment, with a track record of successfully delivering complex software systems or services.
  • Educational background in Computer Science, Engineering. MBA is a plus.
  • Technical experience in Java technologies, API (SOAP & Rest) & Web Development, advantageous to have Golang and open-source technologies.
  • It will be an added advantage if the candidate has experience working in Financial Services and Product Development space (in one or more of the following areas:- Merchant & Partner portals, Risk & Fraud management, Identity and Access Management, Payment Security, Tokenization etc.).
  • Working knowledge of compliance regulations (PCI-DSS, GDPR, CCPA, etc) would be considered advantage.
  • Hands on experience in developing roadmaps, writing user stories, grooming product backlogs and coordinating, prioritizing conflicting requirements in a fast paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in working within an agile environment. This includes the ability to adapt quickly to changes, efficiently handle multiple tasks, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and drive projects to completion within the framework of Agile methodologies. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with iterative development practices, backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives•
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and engage with clients, partners, and a diverse range of stakeholders including customers, executives, and product and technology teams at all levels.
  • Ability to interpret business requirements, both implied and explicit, from stakeholder communication and convert them into technical requirements with strong acceptance criteria for the tech team to implement
  • Experience demonstrating strong leadership, self-motivation, and accountability
  • Fast learner on both technical and business side
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance overall strategy with meticulous execution. Must be detail-oriented, results-driven, able to use data to guide product decisions, and adept at managing both internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will also possess strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
