Job Description

The Director of Business Planning, Data, and Analytics will play a pivotal role in driving our L&D strategy through data-driven insights and strategic planning. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of business planning, data management, and analytics related to our employee learning and development initiatives. The Director of Business Planning, Data, and Analytics will report to the Global Head of VU operations and will work closely with other senior leaders to drive the success of our L&D initiatives.

Essential Functions

Business Planning

  • Lead annual strategy and operations planning processes across Visa University
  • Track and report progress on VU OKRs
  • Oversee and manage the interdependence between VU subfunctions, anticipate and proactively manage any cross functional impact.
  • Lead enterprise subscriptions and partner relations, ongoing review, and ROI 
  • Support business planning requests from Head of Learning, Global Talent, Visa People Team, and corporate
  • Lead and facilitate the quarterly and monthly business reviews.
  • Support workforce plan (VU headcount management) in partnership with WFPL, PBP/PA

Financial Management

  • Lead financial management center of excellence – Establish and mature standard operating procedures for financial management, sourcing, and vendor management globally and across the regions. 
  • Monthly budget tracking and executive reporting, highlighting opportunities for managing any variances.
  • Serve as a liaison between global and regional VU subfunction, corporate Finance and sourcing organizations.
  • Act as subject matter expert, train and consult global and regional sub-function leaders.     

Data, Reporting, and Analytics

  • Design and develop reporting standards for measuring and demonstrating the business impact of Visa University’s programs and initiatives.
  • Work with the VU learning leaders to develop requirements, define success metrics, manage, and execute analytical projects, and evaluate results. Translate important business questions into concrete analytical tasks.
  • Develop and maintain Visa University’s executive scorecards to track progress and KPI measurement.
  • Lead the core infrastructure – database management, reporting frontend, data source auditing, validation, backend code, and automation.
  • Establish development & data processes, define quality criteria, and implement data quality processes.
  • Monitor practices, processes, and systems to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Lead the transformation from ops heavy analytics to business/performance impact focused analytics and reporting. 
  • Enable data-as-a-service, tools, and awareness for self-serve reporting and analytics.
  • Liaise with broader Visa People Analytics Team to explore synergies, integrate key learning metrics in People Pack reporting, leverage best practices and infrastructure.
  • Reinforce a culture of data-driven decision making by focusing on explaining why it is happening and what you can do about it. Focus on questioning, examining, interpreting, comparing, and confirming.

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

• 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications

• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. A Master's degree or MBA is preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role, with at least 5 years in a leadership position, preferably within a corporate learning and development environment.
• Strong knowledge of learning data analysis combined with behavioural data, HR data, performance metrics and business data for articulating the impact of learning.
• Proficiency in data analytics software and business intelligence tools, such as SQL, Tableau, Power BI, and Watershed
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams.
• Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly convey data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
• Project management skills and strong execution capability to deliver against dynamic business needs.
• Self-confident and hands-on, with the ability to operate in a fast paced and constantly changing work environment.
• Strong business planning and financial acumen

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 127,500.00 to 165,800.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
