We are looking for a passionate Project Manager to join our team and work within a key strategic client in New Zealand, helping them bring exceptional payment solutions to the market.

What you will be doing

This role is in one of our most strategically important clients in New Zealand and will be a key contributor to protecting our client’s critical assets – their customers, and reputation. In this role you will:

  • Apply your robust toolkit of Project Manager skills to define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business strategic goals in collaboration with project business owner, Business Analyst, Change Manager, sponsor, and stakeholders across the matrixed project.
  • Manage the inception of the project including the creation of proposal documentation, business cases, cost estimates and benefit analysis.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. Define project success criteria and disseminate them to the involved parties throughout the project life-cycle.
  • Plan and track project milestones, budget and deliverables and ensure mandatory events occur within the project including checkpoints, processes, deliverables, and documentation.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders. Motivate and supervise project team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.

Foster a no surprise culture within the extended project team by supervising the cadence of the team deliverables and ensuring they are set up to succeed with open feedback channels.

Qualifications

What you will bring

Key Competencies:

  • Experience managing complex projects from discovery to execution, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Direct work experience in a project management capacity, including delivery of digital first technology transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated excellence in end-to-end project management lifecycles, disciplines and procedures including detailed project planning, stakeholder management, risk and issue identification to resolution tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of different project methodologies and how to effectively use Agile methodologies in a banking environment.
  • The ability to lead a project and gather support in a matrixed organisation across different locations.
  • Outstanding communication, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate information, concepts, and arguments effectively at all levels and in the appropriate style.
  • Proven experience with mentoring peer project team members to successful outcomes.
  • Ability to engage with people across different levels and to work with 3rd party software providers to deliver change.

It will be highly regarded if you have:

  • Knowledge of lending origination processes.
  • A working understand of banking regulatory requirements, particularly CCCFA regulatory obligations.
  • Basic understanding or experience working on open banking and/or cards related projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in working on product or process related projects in financial services.
