Job Description

This role is committed to improving performance, creating new solutions, and driving systemic changes for the Visa Innovation team. This role focuses on leading strategic initiatives, fostering a culture of innovation, and partnering with communities to develop solutions for complex public concerns.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement innovative strategies and initiate reforms to improve service delivery and performance.

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, governing bodies, and stakeholders to promote innovation and develop creative strategies.

  • Lead the planning, execution, and management of innovation projects

  • Partner with institutions, communities, and stakeholders to develop inclusive and innovative solutions to complex public challenges.

  • Cultivate a culture of innovation, openness, and creativity.

  • Advocate for and facilitate the adoption of innovative technologies, strategies, and practices across the sector.

  • Measure and report on the effectiveness and impacts of innovative projects and initiatives.

  • Provide expert advice to leadership and stakeholders on challenges and opportunities in public innovation.

  • Monitor emerging trends, technologies, and practices.

  • Develop networks and partnerships that enable knowledge exchange and collaborative problem solving.

Essential Functions

  • Work with Technology to ensure new capabilities deliver expected user experience and are on time and within budget. 

  • Develop, deploy, and manage product roadmap independently, requiring limited oversight

  • Collaborate with senior and executive leaders to align product strategies and ensure proper coordination and messaging where appropriate. Provide executive briefings and ensure awareness of product rollout and migration

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Extensive experience in a leadership role within the public sector, with a focus on innovation.
• Comprehensive understanding of the public sector and its challenges and opportunities.
• Exceptional strategic planning and project management skills.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership capabilities.
• 12 years of payments experience, including experience in product or project management, and in payments processing
• Skills in facilitating complex negotiations and stakeholder engagement processes.
• Familiarity with emerging technologies and principles in public sector innovation.
• Demonstrated ability to work creatively and analytically in problem-solving.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Proven ability to critically evaluate and improve organizational processes and strategies.
• Self-starter with a bias toward action and proven track record for successfully developing, building, launching and commercializing payments products
• Demonstrated thought leadership and the aptitude to think creatively and identify new ways to innovate and differentiate products with evidence of tangible business results
• Possess a high level of professionalism and leadership skills to build business relationships, trust and respect with business partners and suppliers
• Strong team player, self-motivated and the ability to work independently at coordinating cross functional activities, obtain buy-in and elevate issues at critical junctures appropriately
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation necessary. Active listening skills required.
• Ability to explain complex business and technical concepts to broad audiences in an approachable way and strong documentation skills, including PowerPoint
• Detail oriented and highly execution focused by working in conjunction with various counterparts across multiple functional groups
• Ability to influence, negotiate and drive results, ensuring that timelines are adhered to and any risks to the project are called out early
• Embrace change and ambiguity in an ecosystem that is rapidly evolving.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 139,800.00 to 181,800.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
