Job Description

The Head of Solutions Architecture for Professional Services, is responsible for leading the Solutions Architecture global function for Acceptance Solutions Professional Services, including interpreting the organization’s objectives and the enterprise and solutions context into standards and usage guidelines that drive consistency, predictability and efficiency in the work executed by the solutions architect within the group.

He or she will be accountable global leader for architecture governance for all designs, solution overviews and engineering constructs to promote Professional Services as a value proposition driver to enable Visa clients to innovate and transform their businesses by leveraging a host of solutions, services, and offerings available for use within the Acceptance Solutions ecosystem. This critical leadership role is vital in assisting Visa clients to meet their business objectives through a range of services (e.g., consulting, migration, management, integration, custom development, etc.) to simplify how clients integrate with our Acceptance Platform and accelerate the consumption of our services.

The leader will build strong relationships with our partners in Sales, Solutioning, Product Management, Technology and Client Services to develop the right solution architecture and technical strategies for clients. The leader should have prior financial services or payment technology experience and proven success developing business with critical financial institutions, processors, ISVs, PSPs, PayFacs, and merchants, helping to grow the business’ revenue, and leveraging a dynamic operating model to advocate for the adoption of the host of solutions provided by the Professional Services team.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to lead a global team to collaborate with clients and position Professional Services as Acceptance Solutions’ critical lever for success, innovation, and transformational growth, and in turn grow and diversify the business’ revenue.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Standardize and evangelize the PS architectural blueprints by leading the creation and evolution of an integrated architecture program based on business and customer needs, demonstrating the business value of architecture as an enabler for business strategy implementation and technology innovation
  • Manage the Architecture team that is responsible and accountable for strategic technical direction and architectural integrity, that evolves to become a network driving the corporate-wide technical vision and mandates. Set a standard for Enterprise/ System architecture within the PS team and foster an innovation culture.
  • Assume overall technical responsibility to ensure that Acceptance Solutions meets its client contractual obligations to deliver innovative payment solutions, globally and at scale for its Strategic client portfolio.
  • Leverage understanding of the clients’ business strategies/objectives and payments domain expertise to create solution approaches that are integrated in the product roadmap with a committed timeline and budget.
  • Act as the technical champion within the PS team to advocate for client’s priorities, while mindful and respectful of competing product development priorities and backlogs simultaneously, manage client expectations and delivery timelines while ensuring the feasibility of solutions by mapping components to actual existing capabilities and assets.
  • Provide thought leadership on all payments and commerce-related matters in order to develop a vision for specific areas of solution with an eye toward applicability across the broader Strategic client portfolio.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technical strategy and architecture that aligns with business goals and objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to development teams, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and to high standards.
  • Communicate technical concepts and strategies to non-technical stakeholders and facilitate cross-functional collaboration, also ensure that technology systems architecture designs are secure, reliable, and scalable, and meet regulatory and compliance requirements. Monitor and assess new and emerging technologies and make recommendations for adoption where appropriate.
  • Drive critical strategic discussions, and actions with a range of stakeholders across the organization, including executive management, and function as a critical voice of client needs to inform Visa core product roadmap and investments.
  • Maintain high level of expertise across Acceptance Solutions products and solutions with a detailed understanding and appreciation for overall strategic context, priorities, and revenue goals.
  • Stay abreast of evolving payment technologies, innovations and strategic partners that may accelerate speed-to-market or enhance our existing products and solutions.
  • Initiate solution ideation and execution to drive the creation of new solutions with Acceptance Solutions solution owners and product managers, as well as 3rd-party technology providers. Turns ideas into proof of concepts, prototypes, and technical artifacts to highlight our innovations, or to solicit client feedback on new product features or functionality.
  • Define playbook and deliver industry-leading platform extensions and product enhancements for Visa clients.
  • Design all payment flows, including data points and business processes working with Product Management and Partners to understand product gaps and timescales for delivery.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
• 12 years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree. 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD). or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD.

Preferred Qualifications
• 12 years of progressively responsible business experience with 5+ years’ experience managing strategic relationships with financial services and technology solution providers
• Advanced understanding of banking, payment card systems, payment methods and merchant acquiring and processing in the US, Europe, and Asia
• Detailed and demonstrated experience in eCommerce, mobile and point-of-sale technologies
• Highly preferred to understand Fraud Management, PCI, Product Management and Marketing Principles
• Demonstrated ability to work with large, cross-functional (e.g., product, sales, strategy, marketing) and cross-regional teams
• Demonstrated ability to work closely with a partner’s C-level executives to present Visa’s strategic vision and negotiate effectively on behalf of the company
• Ability to work independently within a complex and often ambiguous environment, to drive rigorous, fact-based recommendations to stakeholders and to juggle multiple initiatives at once
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor addressing a wide variety of functional business problems
• Disciplined and tolerant of ambiguity, with the maturity and capability to interact and influence across multiple organizational levels, internal and external to Acceptance Solutions
• Ability to quickly assess an opportunity's potential, leveraging fact-based analyses and industry experience

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 30-50% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 163,600.00 to 225,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
